We won’t get to see a #1 vs #2 matchup in Saturday’s Wimbledon women’s singles final, but we will get to see one in the men’s singles final, as world number one Carlos Alcaraz and four-time defending Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic will face off on Sunday in London (9:00 am ET, ESPN).
Djokovic and Alcaraz will be meeting for the second Grand Slam tournament in a row, though there will be a bit more at stake than their last meeting. In the French Open semifinals last month, Djokovic defeated Alcaraz in four sets, with the young Spaniard heavily affected by cramps in the loss.
He hasn’t had to wait long to get another crack at the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion. Djokovic will enter Sunday’s final with a chance to pick up a record-tying eighth Wimbledon men’s singles title, extend his newly acquired Grand Slam singles titles record, and send his calendar-year Grand Slam hopes into the US Open.
Alcaraz, meanwhile, will be looking to capture his second Grand Slam singles title in his second final, following last year’s US Open win. He will also be looking to hold on to his top spot in the rankings, which he will relinquish to Djokovic with a loss.
With so much on the line, will we get a classic contest at the All-England Club on Sunday? Read on for our Wimbledon men’s final prediction and picks, but first, let’s take a look at Djokovic vs Alcaraz odds, courtesy of Bovada.

Novak Djokovic vs Carlos Alcaraz Prediction and Picks
Alcaraz has had an impressive grass-court run over the last few weeks, but it won’t be complete without a win on Sunday.
In my look at the Wimbledon men’s semifinals, I backed Daniil Medvedev to get the best of him. But Alcaraz instead dispatched the #3 seed 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 in just one hour, 50 minutes.
That followed another impressive performance in the quarterfinals, where he took care of #6 seed Holger Rune 7-6 (7-3), 6-4, 6-4 in two hours, 23 minutes.
Since needing three hours, 58 minutes to see off Nicolas Jarry in the third round, Alcaraz has avoided any marathon matches. Even his fourth-round win over Matteo Berrettini took only two hours, 53 minutes even though it went four competitive sets.
He’ll need every possible bit of energy he has in him to outlast Djokovic, who hasn’t lost a completed match at Wimbledon since 2016.
Novak Djokovic vs Carlos Alcaraz H2H Results
- 2022 Madrid Masters (semis): Alcaraz won 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 7-6 (7-5)
- 2023 French Open (semis): Djokovic won 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1
Alcaraz’s best is certainly good enough to beat Djokovic. There is a reason why he is world number one and the owner of a Grand Slam title at only 20.
But can he actually pull it off on a surface on which Djokovic has been absolutely dominant for years?
As long as he stays healthy, there should be many more Grand Slam titles in Alcaraz’s future. But with the way that Djokovic has dominated Wimbledon over the last several years, he feels borderline untouchable there right now. And unless his powers take a massive dive in the next year, 2024 might be more of the same.
All that said, I do think Alcaraz will manage to keep things competitive, and I think he will at least be able to match Hubert Hurkacz and Andrey Rublev and take a set off of Djokovic. That will help the over 40.5 games get over the line, even if Alcaraz can’t himself.
