One American woman is already in the US Open singles semifinals, but will she be joined by a second? Tonight, #6 seed Jessica Pegula will look to finally reach her first Grand Slam singles semifinal as she takes on #1 seed and 2022 US Open champion Iga Swiatek (7:00 pm ET, ESPN).
Yesterday, #13 seed Emma Navarro booked a ticket to her first Grand Slam semifinal with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Paula Badosa. The 23-year-old will face #2 seed Aryna Sabalenka in one of tomorrow’s women’s singles semifinals.
Who will face the winner of this afternoon’s quarterfinal matchup between #22 seed Beatriz Haddad Maia and Karolina Muchova?
Swiatek is a firm favorite, and since having a tough time with Kamilla Rakhimova in the first round, she has breezed past her last three opponents.
Like Swiatek, Pegula has not dropped a set thus far in the US Open. But will her current form translate into a semifinal breakthrough at the seventh attempt?

Swiatek vs Pegula Betting Analysis
After failing to defend her US Open title last year, Swiatek is three wins away from being crowned the queen in Queens for the second time in three seasons.
When she had trouble dispatching Rakhimova, who was ranked 104th entering the US Open, it looked like she could be poised for an early exit.
But such matches can serve as a wake-up call, and it appears that was the case for Swiatek, who has lost only a dozen games in her last three matches after losing ten in her tournament opener.
Now, she goes up against a familiar opponent in Pegula. Of their nine previous meetings, eight have come on hard courts, with Swiatek holding a 5-3 advantage in those matches. That includes a matchup at this stage of the US Open two years ago, a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) win for the eventual champion.
Should we expect a similar result tonight, or will Pegula have her long-awaited moment?
The timing perhaps couldn’t be better for Pegula, who is in sizzling form currently. After winning the Canadian Open and reaching the final of the Cincinnati Open, Pegula has kept it going at the US Open. Notably, she has broken her opposition at least twice in seven of the eight sets she has played.
Swiatek vs Pegula Prediction & Picks
As well as Pegula is playing right now, her history is a big concern.
While she has been a fixture in the top ten over the last few years, she has not been able to translate that into Grand Slam success. Six times, she has lost at this stage, and she has won a set only twice in Grand Slam singles quarterfinals.
Given her present form, this may well be Pegula’s best opportunity to finally break through and reach her first Grand Slam singles semifinal or even go all the way, but in the end, it’s hard to look past her history.
Clay may be Swiatek’s favorite surface, but she is formidable on hard courts as well and will show that once again tonight. It won’t be an easy win for her, but she will see off Pegula to set up a semifinal showdown with Haddad Maia or Muchova.
Swiatek vs Pegula Prediction: Swiatek to win in straight sets
Swiatek vs Pegula Picks: 1) Iga Swiatek -4.5 games & Swiatek/Pegula under 20.5 games
