Happy Sunday!
The Chicago Sky are in a tough spot, returning home after a grueling road trip, where teams typically struggle. With the Las Vegas Aces looking to bounce back and A’ja Wilson leading the charge, this is a prime spot to back Vegas.

The Stank:
System Play Sunday!
It’s time for a lesson, boys and girls. The Sky enter Sunday in what’s called a “grocery spot.” A grocery spot occurs when a team returns home after a three-plus game road trip. Teams in this situation are typically sluggish and worn out from being on the road. This season, teams in grocery spots are 10-6 against the spread. This Sunday, the Aces are in that spot.
I’m not just liking Las Vegas because of the system play; they haven’t covered a spread since returning from the Olympic break. They’ve been sluggish, going 1-4, with their only win coming against the Sparks a week ago. Additionally, they’ve suffered back-to-back losses to the Lynx. They are due for a big game.

Chicago, on the other hand, is coming off a tough loss to the Sun, falling by just two points as 11-point underdogs on Friday night. Since returning from the break, the Sky have been sluggish as well, with a 1-3 record. Their lone win also came against the Sparks. The Sky have struggled since trading Marina Mabrey to Connecticut, ranking tenth in offense and seventh in defense. I don’t see them improving after losing such a key piece.
That’s why I’m taking the Aces in this one. Despite their recent struggles, Vegas is still a contending team, ranking in the top five in both offense and defense. Most importantly, they still have the best player in the world in A’ja Wilson.
Prediction: Aces win & Cover
Pick: Aces (-8.5) (-105)
