Battle of the beast in the Western Conference as the Minnesota Lynx will take on the Las Vegas Aces. Las Vegas had a slow start but have climbed their way back to the top of the Conference. They’re only 3 games behind the Lynx for the top spot. Let’s look at some background for our Lynx vs Aces picks.
Like I mentioned, the Aces had a weird start but are back to form. The Aces are 17-9 and 2nd in the Western Conference. They are 9-6 at home this year and 7-3 in their last 10 games. The team is coming off a nice win vs the Sparks.
Likely MVP A’ja Wilson has been an absolute monster this year, averaging 27.3 points and 12 rebounds per game. She went on to set a record for the most 25+ point performances in a row (8). A’ja is really a good leader as well, being the face of this franchise.
Her teammates in the WNBA and the Olympics help her be so good. Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray all have been performing well. Gray missed just about half of the 1st half of the season due to an injury, but she picked right back up where she left off averaging almost 5 assists per game.
Lynx will look to continue to roll right through the Aces
Minnesota is having a heck of year. Sitting at the top of the Western Conference, the Lynx are 19-8 this season. They come into this game on a 3-game winning streak and are 6-4 in their last 10 games.
The Lynx are one of the, if not the, best defensive teams in the league. They have the best defensive rating in the league and are 2nd best in steals. Playing defense like this allows for the offense to make easy plays.
Gold medalist Napheesa Collier leads the Lynx again this season. She’s averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. Collier is the heart and soul of this squad. Kayla McBride and Alanna Smith both have stepped up and are key role players for Collier.
Their defense tonight can be, if not will be, the difference maker of tonight. Don’t get me wrong, the Lynx can score, but their defense will need to tame an offense like the Aces to stay in this game. They did play back in June and the Lynx won by 14 points.
Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

This is a tough one because both teams are so good. I think we see a close game this time around and that’s why I’m taking the Lynx on the spread. How can we not take the better team when getting 5.5 points?
That sounds cliche, but the Lynx are number 1 for a reason. Las Vegas is going to want this win badly to be one game closer to 1st and also because they lost the last matchup. Although I think the Aces win, I think it’ll be close.
Watch for McBride to shoot from 3-point range a good amount. Collier is going to have to crash the boards as well as contribute her normal 20 points per game. Alanna Smith will also need to get her boards and her almost 2 blocks and steals per game.
One thing we will definitely take is A’ja’s points. The line will probably be set around 26-28 points priced around -115. We’re going to continue to ride this wave and if the Aces want to win, she needs to put up close to 30 points as well.
