With Game 1 in the books, we have 1-0 series lead by the Liberty. New York handled Las Vegas with ease Sunday afternoon, winning by a score of 87-77. The Liberty controlled the entire game and didn’t trail for much of the game.
Breanna Stewart led the way for the Liberty with 34 points and 5 rebounds. Sabrina Ionescu followed right behind Stewart, putting up 21 points and dishing 5 assists. Jonquel Jones dominated down low and had a 13 and 12 double double.
As a Liberty fan, I loved every minute of it, but that was 1 game. We move to Game 2 and taking the Aces lightly would be the most foolish thing this team could do. I don’t see that happening at all, especially for Game 2 on home court.
This is hungrier than ever after the season they’ve had and losing to this same Las Vegas team in the finals last year. They’re so close they can taste it, but they have to keep going. “Job’s not done”.
Aces will look to bring the pain and even the series up at 1 each
Las Vegas just couldn’t keep up with New York in Game 1. They were didn’t shoot as well, were out rebounded and weren’t on their toes defensively. The Liberty had 10 steals in Game 1 vs the Aces 4.
We all know this team can bang other teams around. They’re going to need to steal this game in NY if they want to have a chance in this series. The Liberty play just as good on the road as they do at home, so it doesn’t work in the Aces favor.
A’ja Wilson, the league MVP, didn’t go off like her typical self. Wilson had 21 points and 6 rebounds, far under her normal 25 and 10 performances. Kelsey Plum put up 24 points and had 4 3-pointers while Jackie Young had 17 points.
This team will need to see more out of Chelsea Gray. The Liberty held her to only 4 points and 1 assist, which was the difference maker of a 10 point game. Gray missed a good portion of the season, but she normally is a Liberty killer.
Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

Even though I’m a homer and I said this already – these ladies from the BK want this and badly. This game is absolutely huge for them because going into Vegas with the chance to end their season on their home court would almost be revenge for last year, losing the championship at home.
Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu have clicked into beast mode. These 2 are going to be the center of their offense and players like Jonquel Jones and Betnijah Laney-Hamilton.
I expect for Stewart to hit her points line again. She just put up 30+ and I think the team is going to go through her again. If she gets caught up, she will have Jones to rely on down low.
In Game 1, I thought Ionescu would have 4+ 3-pointers and she fell 1 short. What does that mean? It means we’re going right back to her. She shot 50% from 3, making 3 out of her 6 shots. I expect Ionescu to be firing away again, with the same amount of volume.
