The Las Vegas Aces will be taking on the Los Angeles Sparks at home. With both teams coming off a back-to-back, it’ll be interesting to see who has more gas in the tank. These 2 teams played each other at the beginning of last month and the Sparks squeaked out a 5-point win.
With that loss being the last matchup and a big loss yesterday, the Aces need a win. They have a 16-9 record and are only 3rd in the Western Conference, which is bad for the 2-time defending champs. Yesterday’s loss was significant because it was to the best team in the league, the New York Liberty. It was their 2nd loss in a row.
Las Vegas has had a up and down season. They had a rough start but rebounded nicely. Chelsea Gray missed the beginning of the season but returned. In her 11 games started, she is averaging 7.7 points, 5.4 assists and 3 rebounds per game.
The leagues probably MVP A’ja Wilson has been having herself a season. Averaging 27.1 points and 11.9 rebounds per game, she has been a force to be reckoned with. She is also coming off winning Gold in the Olympics. At this rate, she has to be getting angry with the way the team has been performing.
After 2 losses, the Sparks will look to get their 1st win since break
The Sparks have had a rough season so far. They’re 6-20 on the season and 2-10 on the road, which is not in their favor tonight. Los Angeles is 2-8 in their last 10 games and have lost their last 3.
Offensively, they rank in the bottom of the league. From point scored to offensive rating, the Sparks are almost dead last. The loss of rookie Cameron brink hasn’t helped as this year should’ve been a good test for her and Dearica Hamby to build chemistry.
Hamby has been the one leading this team. She’s averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds per game on the season while starting all 26 games. Her biggest help is another rookie, Rickea Jackson. Jackson is 11.5 points and 3.8 rebounds on the year.
Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

In a way, this is a must win game for the Aces. They are the better team up and down, but the Western Conference has shown the Aces that they’re not the only good team this year.
After dropping 2 games, Las Vegas needs to take this game at home, and they will. I expect them to clobber the Sparks today in front of the home crowd. A game like this is also a good confidence builder and can help turn the corner to a win streak.
I expect A’ja to go off today. Look for her to easily get her points and I think she’ll put up 30+. You can get the 30+ at +178, which is good value with her regular point line at 26.5 valued at -118. She had 35 points and 12 rebounds in the last matchup and Las Vegas didn’t even win.
It’s a lot of points, but we’re not scared. We’re taking the Aces Spread as well as laddering A’ja’s points to 35+ for +470. See you at the cash counter!
