We have a treat on our hands tonight. The Seattle Storm will head to the Barclays Center to take on the New York Liberty. These 2 teams just played each other less than a week ago, with New York coming away with the win by 13 points.
The Liberty ae having themselves a year. Currently the best team in the league, they have a 27-6 record and are 14-2 at home. They are also 8-2 in their last 10 games and 6-2 since returning from the Olympic break.
New York ranks in the top 5 of every major statistical category. Points, rebounds, assists, 3-point field goals and 3-point field goal percentage to name a few. They also have the top offensive rating in the league.
MVP Breanna Stewart has been leading this team again, along with Sabrina Ionescu. Stewart is averaging 20.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while Ionescu is averaging 19.5 points and 5.9 assists per game. That’s not even mentioning the rest of the team.
They have the 3rd best defensive rating in the league. To go with that, they’re 4th in the league for steals and turnovers per game. The Liberty protect the ball pretty well, especially considering for how much they move it around.
Seattle will look to keep the momentum from the win over the Sun
This Seattle team has played great this season and shown they’re a contender. They’re 20-13 on the season and are 3rd in the Western Conference. On the road, they’re 8-8 on the season and are 5-5 in their last 10 games.
They haven’t played the best since coming back from the break, with a 3-5 record. Seattle is coming off a big win over the Sun Tuesday night by a score of 71-64. This could be where they turn on the heat, but this is going to be a tough game for them.
Seattle does match up pretty decently vs the Liberty, even though they got smacked last matchup. The Storm are a good defensive team. They rank 4th in defensive rating, 3rd in turnovers committed and 1st in steals.
Let’s check out the odds and get into the picks.

This Liberty squad has all the pieces and they’re all moving in the right direction. One thing the Liberty haven’t done well is cover large spreads, which is why I like this one. The sportsbooks are respecting the Storm to an extent.
I really think the Liberty work the Storm to the ground. Seattle coming off that big win vs the Sun could be set up for a letdown spot here. New York is a great home team too, so it’s really going to make it tough for Seattle.
Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu should be read to cook. Stewart just had 32 points against her former team last week and don’t be surprised if she drops another 30 bomb. Ionescu had 8 rebounds and 8 assists so her RA if definitely a good look.
From the Storm side, I like Sky Diggins-Smith to get 6+ assists. It should be priced around -110. She has hit this line in her last 4 games vs the Liberty, 2 of those being from this year. Diggins-Smith has also hit this line in her last 4 out of 5 games.
