We’ve got another fantastic MLB betting board for us, and we are going to dive into some of the best pitcher matchups on today’s slate.
This page will serve as a reference point into some of the best pitching matchups happening on the MLB diamond that day.
For today, I’ve got three pitching matchups to discuss and breakdown in depth.
Today, we will be looking at:
- Seattle Mariners @ New York Mets
- Tampa Bay Rays @ Cleveland Guardians
- Atlanta Braves @ Los Angeles Dodgers
Let’s get into it!
Seattle Mariners @ New York Mets
Pitching Matchup
- Seattle Mariners: Logan Gilbert (12-5, 3.66 ERA)
- New York Mets: Kodai Senga (10-7, 3.17 ERA)
The Pick: Logan Gilbert over 6.5 Strikeouts (+118) Bovada
Gilbert has cleared this line in just 31% of games this year, however we are getting plus money for a reason.
On the road, he’s only gotten 7+ Ks in 3/14 road starts this year, but he’s had 6+ Ks five separate times.
Now, over the past month, the Mets have struck out more against RHP. Their K% jumps from 21.6% to 23.7%, putting them 13th in the MLB over the last 30 days.
Gilbert is definitely a strikeout pitcher, averaging just over 6 per start this season.
This one is going to be sweaty, but I like the Mariners to win on the shoulders of Gilbert in game that means much more to them.
Tampa Bay Rays @ Cleveland Guardians
Pitching Matchup
- Tampa Bay Rays: Tyler Glasnow (7-4, 3.12 ERA)
- Cleveland Guardians: Cal Quantrill (2-6, 6.45 ERA)
The Pick: Tyler Glasnow over 6.5 Strikeouts (-121) Bovada
Glasnow has cleared this line in 11/15 starts this year. Before last game against the Yankees where he only had 4 Ks, he cleared this line in 10 straight games beforehand.
I think he can shove tonight against the Guardians who do not hit well against him.
Cleveland is actually the best team when it comes to avoiding strikeouts against RHP, but not over the past month.
Their K% has increased over 2% in the last 30 days, moving their K% against righties to nearly 21%.
Glasnow is in Top 10% of the league in K/Inning (1.32), Top 5% in Called Strike Plus Whiff Rate (33.6%), and the Top 1% in Swinging Strike Percentage (17.2%).
This guy simply sits batters down, and he’s going to do so again tonight.
Atlanta Braves @ Los Angeles Dodgers
Pitching Matchup
- Atlanta Braves: Max Fried (5-1, 2.85 ERA)
- Los Angeles Dodgers: Julio Urías (11-7, 4.41 ERA)
The Pick: ATL/LAD Under 8 (+100) Bovada
I understand we have the two best offenses in the National League, perhaps the entire MLB, but we also have two great pitchers with great numbers.
Urías has a 2.30 ERA at home, and 0.80 WHIP. His opponent’s bat just .196 against him at Dodger Stadium.
Fried also sees his ERA drop to 2.15 in road games. His WHIP drops to 1.02 and opponent’s hit just .234 on the road against Fried.
I think we see a low scoring, boring game from these two contenders tonight.
