We have an exciting Thursday Night in Omaha! The College World Series has almost reached the Final, but we have one more elimination game tonight!
We’ve got our prediction and best bet for the game at hand!
Let’s break it down!
College World Series Recap
Eight teams traveled to Omaha, but only one will be crowned NCAA Champion at Charles Schwab Field.
We’ve already said good-bye to Virginia, Stanford, Oral Roberts, Tennessee, and now TCU. Thanks for playing, see ya next season!
The Florida Gators have yet to lose a game in Nebraska and have successfully punched their ticket to the CWS Final, a best of three series beginning on Saturday.
They get to sit back and watch their potential opponents duke it out on the national stage.
Wake Forest takes on LSU.
Didn’t They Play Last Night?
We have a winner! Indeed, these two teams played last night, and in fact, this is actually their third meeting in Omaha. This is possible due to the double elimination nature of the tournament.
Wake Forest was able to beat LSU 3-2 earlier in the tournament. LSU survived the loser’s bracket and found themselves in the semifinals against the Demon Deacons who took them down two days earlier.
If Wake Forest beat LSU last night, this article would be a preview of the CWS Final featuring the Florida Gators and the Demon Deacons.
But the Tigers had other plans.
LSU upset the #1 overall seed 5-2, forcing a winner-takes-all contest tonight.
Tonight, these two College Baseball giants leave it all on the field for us fans to enjoy on national television.
Can the Tigers beat the #1 team in back to back games? Or will Wake Forest prove why they’ve been the team to beat all season?

LSU vs Wake Forest Best Bets
It’s a little interesting that LSU is a -210 favorite against the #1 team in the country. Yes, LSU is #5 and beat Wake Forest two days ago. And yes, LSU arguably played tougher competition all year in the SEC, and have some current momentum. It’s obviously not a home game for LSU; it’s on a neutral site.
And it’s Wake Forest.
So what am I missing here?
To me, that’s all too telling and enough for me to think the Tigers get the job done. LSU has been to the College World Series 19 times. This is just the 3rd appearance for Wake.
The Demon Deacons squeaked by in both of their wins in Omaha, and the Tigers have won with authority, including a 3-run victory over Wake last night.
LSU also beat the brakes off of SEC rival 6-3 in their opening contest, while Wake Forest had to battle back against Stanford.
In this winner takes all matchup, I’ll take the Tigers -1.5 at -115 to punch their ticket to the final.
Will We See Some Runs Today?
As far as a total goes I think we see a low scoring game, potentially even 5-2 like last night. I lean under 8 at -115 odds, but I’m interested to see how, and if this line moves.
Nearly all of these College World Series games have gone under their total, so why not bet on that trend to continue. It’s not the most glamorous bet, but unders pay plenty.
Don’t be afraid to cheer for defense.
