Giannis and his countrymen enter this game as a 4 point favorite over their Spanish counter-parts, who come into this game off a loss to Australia. A loss tonight for either squad could dash any hopes at a podium finish.
With so much on the line, I’m going to the Greek Freak himself. Giannis had 34 points in the Olympic opener, shooting 11/17 (65%) from the field and 12/15 from the free throw line.
Prior to the tournament, in the Olympic Qualifiers, Giannis averaged 23 points per game in just under 23 minutes per game. He averaged 63% from the field and 8.3 free throws per game.
In the one game during the qualifiers he saw 32 minutes, he finished with 32 points on 100% from the field. Spain have some size in the middle with the Hernagomez twins, but it’s been a soft spot in their defense for some time now.
The Spaniards gave up 20 points to Jock Landale in the opener and with Giannis up next, they could be in for another long night.

Breakdown
Santi Aldama has the greenest of green lights with this Spanish squad. He lead the team in minutes in their first game of the Olympics, playing 30 minutes and scoring 27 points on 6/12 from the field.
Aldama also managed to get to the line 10 times and shot 90% from the stripe. He’s also thrived with this shorter 3-point line they have in FIBA.
Aldama shot 6/8 from 3-point territory and Greece doesn’t really have someone to combat his level of perimeter shooting. He lead all of Spain in usage, minutes, scoring and he was very clearly their best player.
Look for them to go to Aldama early and often in this must-win game.

Breakdown
We played this in the Aussie’s opener at 10.5 and he scored 20 points in in 28 minutes. The books have gotten hip to Jock, bumped his line 3 points but jokes on them, they’re giving us plus money.
Jock played 28 minutes in their opener, right in line with the rest of the starters and took a team high 14 shots. He finished with 9 rebounds and 3 of those came on the offensive glass. Landale’s been a menace on the offensive glass, and there’s no reason that should change tonight.
The Canadians opened the tournament with a big win but still lack size inside. They surrendered 34 points to Giannis and gave up 7 offensive rebounds to Greece as a team.
The Australians finished with 14 offensive rebounds in their last game and they’re a team that does so much to get second and third chances on any given possession.
Australia comes into this game as a 7 point underdog but a win tonight would secure a birth in the knockout round and really put the pressure on Canada. Look for the Australians to go through their big man and take advantage of their size advantage.
