The wait for the 2024 Summer Olympics is finally over. The opening ceremony is slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. ET on Friday as the world’s top athletes parade down the River Seine on various boats, marking the beginning of an exciting next few weeks.
With the action starting this weekend, Olympic enthusiasts are wondering how they can get in on the betting action. After all, there are 329 events taking place this year, meaning it can be tough to find a market that works for you.
Fortunately, this article is here to help you with three of the best gold medal bets you can make at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Summer Olympics Odds 2024: 3 Best Gold Medal Bets for Paris Games
All 2024 Summer Olympics odds are courtesy of BetOnline as of Friday, July 26 at 11:49 a.m. ET.
1. Olympic Men’s 100m Butterfly Gold Medal — Caeleb Dressel (+220)
On Tuesday, I wrote about how Team USA’s Caeleb Dressel has a lot riding on the line ahead of the Summer Olympics. The 27-year-old Green Cover Springs, FL native stepped away from swimming for nearly a year back in 2022/23 and many were left wondering if he’d participate at the 2024 Paris Games.
Fortunately, Dressell had a strong U.S. Olympic Trials showing and is now heading to France on a mission. With that being said, I do like his chances of winning the men’s 100m butterfly race. After all, Dressel has won gold in the event at various international competitions, including at the Tokyo Olympics.
Considering how his odds of winning the 100m butterfly sat at +300 earlier this week, it’s clear that his odds will only grow shorter as time goes on. Hammer this Dressel-based bet while there’s still plenty of plus-money value to be had.

2. Olympic Men’s Tennis Gold Medal Winner Carlos Alcaraz (-160)
A lot of sports have been a part of the Olympics since the beginning, including tennis — which debuted in 1896. While this year’s men’s field is composed of some of the best in the sport, the best bet to win gold is none other than Carlos Alcaraz.
The Spanish sensation has accomplished more than the majority of his peers despite only being 21 years old. Alcaraz has victories in four of his last seven Grand Slam appearances, which include winning this year’s French Open and Wimbledon. In fact, he an all-time record of 18-3 at Roland Garros Stadium, which is where this summer’s tennis tournament is being held.
Although names like Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev are also threats, Alcaraz is the clear-cut choice to win it all.
3. Olympic Men’s Soccer Gold Medal Winner — France (+165)
Soccer has also been featured at the Olympics more often than not for well over 100 years. The last two Summer Games tournaments have been won by Brazil, however, I’m taking France to emerge with its first medal since the 1984 Los Angeles Games.
France is the favorite to win it all much like it was at the 2024 Euros, where it lost to Spain in the semifinals. Having said that, the French national team has seen plenty of international success in recent years, having placed first and second at the last two FIFA World Cups.
Team France also opened this year’s tournament in a big way on Wednesday, beginning the group stage with a 3-0 win over the United States. Without any threats in Group A, France will likely cruise to the knockout stage before going on to dominate the rest of the tournament.
