Clippers vs Lakers Prediction & Best Bets (Nov. 1): Will the Streak End Tonight?

Where were you on March 8, 2020? That was the date of the Los Angeles Lakers’ most recent win over the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center/Crypto.com Arena.

Days later, the season went on pause for over four months due to the pandemic. When the season resumed that July 30, the Lakers returned to the court with a 103-101 win over the Clippers in the bubble in Orlando.

Since that win, however, the Lakers have come up empty against the Clippers in 11 straight regular season games, with the Clips sweeping the season series each of the last three seasons.

Will that dominant run finally come to an end tonight in their first meeting this season (10:00 pm ET, ESPN)?

The Clippers won’t have the services of new acquisition James Harden tonight, as his debut may not come until next Monday against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.

But other than Harden, all of the other stars on both teams will be in action tonight, which hasn’t frequently been the case when these two teams have met over the last few seasons.

If the Lakers don’t snap the streak tonight, when will they? The Clippers just played last night, while the Lakers last played on Monday night.

Also, while the traded trio of Nic Batum, Robert Covington, and KJ Martin were not key contributors, all three did play decent minutes, which puts the Clips in an even less than ideal position.

Sometimes a team just has another team’s number, no matter the circumstances. That seems to be the case here, as the Lakers have lost even when they were operating with a more full-strength squad than the Clippers.

But as I said, if they don’t break the streak tonight, when will they? Tonight’s game represents an excellent opportunity to do so, and I expect them to take advantage of it.

D’Angelo Russell Over 23.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-124 at Bovada)

Russell (17.5 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 7.3 APG) has been filling up the stat sheet thus far this season and should have another productive night tonight against the Clippers.

Monday’s win over the Magic, in which he went 3 of 6 from three and 10 of 14 overall from the field, was his first good shooting performance of the season after shooting only 23.5% from three and 36.6% from the field in his first three games.

If he can build off of that showing against Orlando, this one will hit with ease, given his shooting volume (13.8 shots attempted per game) and his assist numbers to date.
