Atlanta Hawks vs Sacramento Kings Player Props (1/22): Will Huerter Put a Hurting on His Former Team Tonight?

The Sacramento Kings have lost a season-high four straight games, but they are favored to end that streak tonight against the shorthanded Atlanta Hawks (10:00 pm ET, NBA TV).
The Kings (23-17, 13-8 home) have not lost four straight games since they started last season 0-4, and since then, Sacramento had lost three straight games only three times prior to this recent stretch (a span of 115 games).
Tonight, they will aim to end that skid and improve their fortunes at home, where they have dropped five of their last eight games.
The forecast is a favorable one for the home team, as the Hawks (18-24, 10-12 away) have also lost five of their last eight road games and will be without Trae Young (concussion) tonight and for the immediate future. Young, who is averaging 26.9 PPG and 10.8 APG this season, was hit in the face while taking a charge from Cleveland’s Isaac Okoro in Saturday’s loss to the Cavaliers.

Atlanta Hawks vs Sacramento Kings Prediction and Picks
Hawks vs Kings Betting Analysis and Prediction
The Hawks have the NBA’s worst ATS record, and it’s by some distance. Entering tonight, they are 11-31 ATS this season. Who is closest to them in being fade fodder? That would be the Charlotte Hornets (15-25-0 ATS) and Phoenix Suns (15-25-2 ATS).
Atlanta has been better against the spread on the road (7-15 ATS) than at home (4-16 ATS), but that’s not saying much, especially when they have one fewer cover in their last 15 road games (three) than they did in their first seven (four).
This month, the Hawks are 1-2 SU and ATS on the road and 4-6 ATS (5-5 SU) overall, which isn’t horrid but shouldn’t inspire any confidence for tonight, not least because Young won’t be playing.
The Kings don’t bring impressive numbers to the table tonight, as they are just 2-6 ATS (3-5 SU) in their last eight home games, only 3-5 ATS (5-3 SU) this season when favored by eight or more, and 14-17 ATS (18-13 SU) overall as a favorite.
I do think that they will be able to get the cover against the Hawks, who are just 7-12 SU and ATS as an underdog this season. But this is one of those spots where any spread bets are best avoided.
Prediction: Kings to win and cover

Kevin Huerter over 2.5 made threes (-124 at BetOnline) and over 13.5 points (-115 at Bovada)
Huerter has started 34 games this season, but it has been an up and down year for him, as he is averaging career lows in minutes per game (23.8 MPG) and three-point percentage (35.8%).
But he has gotten a lot of time on the court in his last few games, and in Thursday’s loss to the Pacers, Huerter scored a career-high 31 points (11 of 17 FG, 7 of 12 3PT, 2 of 2 FT). That was his second big performance in his last three games after he went for 26 (10 of 14 FG, 6 of 9 3PT) and 10 boards against the Bucks.
Huerter is going up against his former team tonight, and I think he will be inspired to build off his performances against Indiana and Milwaukee.
Dejounte Murray over 7.5 assists (-135 at Bovada)
There’s some juice with this one, but it is such a high-percentage play that it’s fine.
Prior to tonight, Young has missed three games this season.
Here are Murray’s numbers in those three games:
- at Detroit (11/14): 32 points, 11 assists, five rebounds
- at Philadelphia (12/8): 20 points, nine assists, four rebounds
- at Miami (1/19): 22 points, 11 assists, three rebounds
