The Lakers have been untouchable to open the tournament, improving to 3-0 in group play with a 107-95 win against the Portland Trail Blazers last week. The Jazz, on the flip side, just suffered their first group-stage loss, falling 131-128 to the Phoenix Suns on Friday.
BetOnline’s futures odds shed some light on these teams’ chances to win the NBA IN-Season Tournament. Los Angeles is one of the top contenders, clocking in at +600 odds (3rd-best) while Utah sits much further back at +10000 (T-16th-best).

Jazz vs Lakers Prediction & Pick (Nov. 21)
After a slow start to the 2023-24 campaign, the Lakers have finally hit their stride.
LeBron & Co. are 5-1 in their last six games, re-solidifying them as a team to take seriously. Their defense has been terrific throughout the run, holding their last six opponents to a 110.0 PPG clip on 44.9% shooting. That’s without mentioning how the Lakers also boast a plus-5.7 average scoring margin during that span.
The Jazz, meanwhile, have been playing like one of the NBA’s worst teams lately. They’ve lost six of their eight previous games and while their two wins came within their last four outings, those victories are over the Grizzlies and Trail Blazers, who are a combined 6-20 this season.
Utah’s biggest issue is that it continues to bleed points. Nobody expected the Jazz to be the best defensive team, but surrendering an average of 125.4 points over the last seven games is inexcusable.
What also works against the Jazz is their road struggles, highlighted by a 1-5 away record. Utah just can’t get much going on the road, putting up 109.8 PPG (12th-worst) while getting outscored by an average of 14.2 points (2nd-worst).
On the flip side, the Lakers have only lost once in seven outings at crypto.com Arena this season. While they don’t put up the most points at home (114.4 PPG, 14th-best), their plus-4.6 average scoring margin ranks 10th-best in the Association.
I’d also be remiss not to mention the fact that the Jazz have lost seven of their last nine trips to crypto.com Arena, scoring 101 or fewer points four times over that stretch.
Nothing is guaranteed in sports, but I have a tough time imagining the Lakers losing. They’re playing great on both sides of the ball and have been near-unbeatable at crypto.com Arena, whereas the Jazz have been bad… pretty much anywhere they’ve played.
Nevertheless, the Over on the 236.5-point total is the way to go. For starters, five of the Jazz’s last six games surpassed that number, seeing an average of 248.3 points per contest.
Additionally, the Jazz and Lakers went beyond the projected total in all of their last five meetings, combining for 237 or more points in each of the most recent four.
Jazz vs Lakers Prediction: LAL wins

Jazz vs Lakers Best Player Prop
Tonight, we’re going with LeBron James hitting 3+ three-pointers as the best Jazz vs. Lakers prop bet. After all, he won’t stop defying Father Time anytime soon.
LeBron has been money from the three-point line, hitting 39.7% of attempted threes — his best 3P% since 2012-13. Even more impressive is that the 38-year-old is averaging 3.2 threes made on 51.6% shooting over his last five games, making good on this prop in all but one of those contests.
LeBron has also hit at least a trio of three-pointers in four of his last meetings with the Jazz, including eight when he last faced them in April. With Utah allowing the fifth-most threes this season, expect business as usual from King James.
Bet: LeBron James 3+ Threes Made (+144 on BetOnline)
