The New York Knicks (26-17) will be on the hunt for their fourth consecutive victory when they pay a visit to the crosstown rival Brooklyn Nets (17-25) at 7:30 p.m. ET in one of five NBA games scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 23.
"I'll leave that for the fans to debate…but it's definitely always a different atmosphere & energy when we do play them"

The Knicks are back on the hardwood after Jalen Brunson’s team-high 38 points paved the way to Saturday’s 126-100 win over the Toronto Raptors. Meanwhile, the Nets return home following a 125-114 loss to the LA Clippers that marked the franchise’s 10th loss in the last 12 games.
Unsurprisingly, both sides’ recent play has them heading in opposite directions as far as BetOnline’s futures markets are concerned. New York is currently tied for the 13th-best odds (+5000) to win the 2023-24 NBA Finals while Brooklyn is tied for 23rd (+50000).
With some exciting basketball betting to get to, let’s not waste any more time — here’s everything you need to know about tonight’s Knicks vs. Nets showdown.

Knicks vs Nets Prediction & Picks (1/23): Will Brooklyn’s Slide Continue?
When it comes to matchups between these teams, recent history has favored the Nets, who are 9-3 SU in their last 12 meetings with the Knicks. Having said that, all runs must come to an end and things could be shifting in New York’s favor after picking up a huge 121-102 win over Brooklyn back on Dec. 20.
The Knicks now head into tonight’s matchup with a ton of momentum stemming from a 9-2 SU record in their last 11 outings, mostly having to do with great defensive play. During that span. Tom Thibodeau’s team has allowed only 100.9 PPG (1st) on 43.6% field-goal (1st) and 31.8% three-point (3rd) percentages while being tied for the second-most defensive rebounds per game (37.4).
Assuming that the Knicks can continue their stellar defensive play, the Nets could be in trouble.
Brooklyn’s offense has struggled to get much going lately, averaging 108.5 PPG on .434/.318/.725 splits over the last 11 games. What makes things even worse is that the Nets were held to 104 or fewer points in six of those contests and even failed to reach the 100-point mark twice.
The Nets must solve their offensive struggles if they hope to overcome the Knicks’ world-class defense tonight.
Barclay Center hasn’t proved much of an advantage to the Nets as of late, having lost five of their last seven home games. They were outscored by an average of 4.9 points during that stretch and even shot worse than 50% from the field in five outings. Chances are that New York is also salivating at the fact that Brooklyn has surrendered 134-plus points in two of their last four home games.
Although the Knicks haven’t been perfect on the road (12-12 SU, 13-11 ATS), they’re 3-1 SU with a plus-15.0 average scoring margin in their last four away contests. That puts them in a good spot after dropping 121 points while shooting 46.3% from the field and 39.4% from the three-point line during last month’s win at Barclays Center.
New York has also excelled at covering the spread over the last few weeks, going 8-3 ATS across the last 11 games and 5-1 ATS over the last six Atlantic Division matchups. On the flip side, Brooklyn is a putrid 3-15-1 ATS in the last 19 games while dropping nine of their last 10 divisional matchups.
With how the Nets have been playing lately, losing left and right, it’s a no-brainer to back the Knicks. New York has been one of the NBA’s best teams over the last month or so and shows zero signs of letting up on defense, which could spell bad news for a Brooklyn team that’s struggling to score. Taking the Nets’ recent home woes into account, it’s clear that this game is the Knicks’ to lose.
As for the best bet, let’s take New York to cover the spread. The Knicks are 7-3 ATS (70%, 5th) as the road favorite this season, whereas the Nets are just 4-4-2 ATS (50%, 13th) as home underdogs. Additionally, the Knicks proved how easy it is to handle the Nets on the road last month, winning by 19 points at Barclays Center.
Considering how the Nets have only gotten worse since then, winning by five or more points isn’t too much of an ask for the Knicks.

Best Knicks vs Nets NBA Prop Bet (1/23)
Are you looking for a good Knicks vs. Nets player prop? Consider taking the Over on Julius Randles’ 9.5-rebound total.
Randle seems to love playing against the Nets, averaging 9.8 rebounds in his last 12 meetings with them. He finished with at least 10 rebounds in seven of those contests and while he didn’t achieve the feat last month, he’s still hit the Over in two of his last three trips to Barclays Center.
Fortunately for Randle, the Nets are surrendering the seventh-most rebounds this season and their recent shooting struggles mean that there’ll likely be a ton of loose balls tonight. After racking up 16 rebounds against the Raptors, I like the odds of Randle having another solid rebounding performance.
Best Knicks vs Nets Prop Bet: Julius Randle o9.5 Rebounds (-113)
