Over half of the NBA is in action on Friday with eight games lined up for Dec. 15. Two of those games are airing nationally on ESPN, including the 10 p.m. ET showdown between the New York Knicks (13-10) and Phoenix Suns (13-11) at Footprint Center.
Both sides could use a win here after going 1-3 SU in their four previous games, respectively. The Knicks are coming off a 117-113 loss to the Utah Jazz on Wednesday while the Suns most recently fell 116-112 to the Brooklyn Nets two nights ago.
As usual, tonight’s game is filled with NBA betting opportunities that you won’t want to pass up on. Fortunately, this betting preview is here to help as it contains a Knicks vs Suns prediction and the best bets for the upcoming showdown.

Knicks vs Suns Prediction & Pick (Dec. 15)
Wednesday’s game against the Nets marked the first time that the Suns’ ‘Big 3’ of Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Bradley Beal played together this season. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned as Phoenix went on to lose by four in a game that it never led by more than seven points.
One of the more disappointing aspects of the loss was that the Suns could’ve won had Booker and Durant had a better night from the three-point line. The superstar duo only shot a combined 3-of-11 (27.3%) from beyond the arc against the Nets. Having said that, Phoenix has been shooting poorly as a whole from the perimeter lately, averaging just 10.1 threes on 35.0% shooting over the last seven games.
For reference, Phoenix is 2-5 SU in those outings.
The silver lining for the Suns is that the Knicks have been bleeding points lately. Despite having one of the better defenses to begin the season, New York has fallen apart in its own end, allowing a 131.5 PPG clip over the last four games.
Adding insult to injury is the fact that the Knicks have lost three straight road games by an average of 9.3 points.
If that isn’t enough, New York has also lost five consecutive trips to Footprint Center, having not defeated Phoenix on the road since Jan. 26, 2018. The Knicks struggled to create offense more often than not in those losses, only averaging 104.4 PPG along the way.
Having said that, I won’t be surprised if the Knicks score more than that average tonight. While the Suns’ defense has been remarkable in past seasons, they’re allowing 115.0 PPG at home this season compared to 110.6 last year.
I could see this game going either way, but it’s more likely that the Suns win tonight. Booker, Durant, and Beal will start to gel more once they’ve spent more minutes together and I wouldn’t be surprised if the upward trend begins tonight considering how poorly the Knicks’ defensive play has been. If Phoenix gets the ball rolling early on, things could get ugly.
I’m also taking the Over on the 231.5-point total as the best bet. First of all, the Over is 5-0 in the Knicks’ last five road games as well as 10-3 at Footprint Center this season. On top of that, five of the last seven New York-Phoenix matchups surpassed their projected total.
With the Knicks allowing 130 points every other night these days, the 231.5-point total is easily surpassable even if the Suns do most of the work.

Best Knicks vs Suns NBA Player Prop (Dec. 15)
We’re heading over to Bovada for the best Knicks vs. Suns player prop, which is Kevin Durant to finish with 30+ points.
Durant is thriving with the Suns, averaging 30.8 PPG — his best average since 2014 — on 64.2% true shooting. The 35-year-old veteran has hit the 30-point mark more times this season (12) than he’s finished below that mark (8) and has made good on this prop eight times over his last 10 games.
On top of that, Durant loves playing the Knicks, highlighted by his 38.0 PPG clip in his last three games against them. With how much leeway New York’s defensive play is allowing, I expect another big night from No. 35.
