Both teams could use a bounce-back win tonight. After all, the Lakers are coming off a 123-113 loss to the Phoenix Suns while the Clippers hope to get back on track after falling 123-107 to the Sacramento Kings two nights ago.

Lakers vs Clippers Prediction & NBA Picks Today (2/28): Season Series Finale

The Lakers and Clippers will clash for the fourth and final time of the 2023-24 NBA season tonight. The Lakers took the earlier season series lead with close-fought victories in the first two encounters before the Clippers notched a 127-116 win when the rivals last met on Jan. 23.

Defeating their rivals wasn’t a new experience for the Clippers, who are now 12-2 SU across their last 14 encounters with the Lakers. The Clippers outscored the Lakers by an average of 8.9 PPG in those contests, notching eight of their 12 victories (75.0%) by three or more possessions.

The good news for the Lakers is that the Clippers will be without Paul George (knee) this evening. Tyron Lue’s team is 3-5 SU across the last eight games that the nine-time NBA All-Star — who is averaging 22.1 PTS/5.3 REB/3.7 AST — has missed.

On the flip side, the Lakers have their fair share of injuries, too. On top of four players already being ruled out due to long-term injuries, LeBron James (ankle) is questionable while Cam Reddish (ankle) and Anthony Davis (Achilles) are both banged up but expected to play.

Can the Clippers win without Paul George tonight? 

But even if he’s questionable, I still expect LeBron to play tonight. The four-time NBA MVP has suited up in back-to-back games despite carrying a ‘questionable’ tag, averaging 29.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 10.5 assists while shooting 61.0% from the floor and 55.6% from downtown.

The Clippers also haven’t been playing all that consistently lately. They’re an uninspiring 3-4 SU in their last seven games and have been held to 107 or fewer points in their last three outings, averaging 105.0 PPG on .459/.352/.900 shooting splits during that stretch.

At the end of the day, I’m backing the Lakers to pull off the upset at crypto.com Arena. The Clippers are playing some of their worst basketball of the season at the moment while the Lakers are desperate to improve their postseason positioning. Assuming that LeBron suits up, this is the Lakers’ game to lose.

Additionally, we’ll take the Lakers to cover the 3.5-point spread. The Clippers are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games and the Lakers have already beaten them twice this season. Covering tonight shouldn’t be an issue for Darvin Ham’s squad.
