The Suns’ sixth win in a row was a close one as Kevin Durant’s 43-point night helped them earn a 115-113 win over the Chicago Bulls on Monday. On the other hand, the Mavericks will try to avoid a third straight loss after falling 119-110 to the Boston Celtics earlier this week.
Regarding representing the West in the 2023-24 NBA Finals, one team has much better odds than the other. BetOnline’s futures odds list Phoenix at +600 odds (3rd) to win the Western Conference Finals while Dallas is further back at +1600 (7th).

Suns vs Mavericks Prediction & Picks (1/24): Phoenix Comes in Red-Hot
The Suns are red-hot ahead of tonight’s matchup and that’s all thanks to their six-game winning streak. They’ve played well on both sides of the ball during their current run, averaging 121.3 PPG while only allowing 112.3 PPG — good for a plus-9.0 average scoring margin. It certainly helps that they’ve had success on the perimeter, too, averaging 13.3 threes made on 39.2% shooting.
Unsurprisingly, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker have been at the center of the team’s success. Durant is averaging 29.2 PTS/5.8 REB/4.5 AST with .558/.438/.952 shooting splits while Booker is putting up a line of 29.2 PTS/4.8 REB/6.8 AST as he shoots 51.2% from the floor. That’s without mentioning how Bradley Beal and Grayson Allen are averaging 21.5 and 14.7 PPG, respectively.
The Mavericks haven’t seen that much success lately, going 2-4 SU with a minus-7.3 average scoring margin. Dallas just can’t seem to get much going on offense, scoring 110 or fewer points in each loss while finishing with a three-point percentage of 35.0% or worse on four occasions.
Will the Suns’ stars — like Kevin Durant — be too much for the slumping Mavericks to handle tonight?
Another thing going against the Mavericks tonight is their injury situation.
Although no players have been ruled out just yet, Luka Doncic (back), Kyrie Irving (thumb), Dante Exum (heel), and Seth Curry (ankle) are all expected to be game-time decisions. It goes without saying that the Mavericks would be in a tough spot if Doncic and/or Irving can’t suit up seeing as how the duo are their top point-scorers. It’s also worth pointing out that Dallas is 8-15 SU in the last 23 games that Doncic has missed.
The Suns’ injury situation isn’t nearly as concerning as their counterparts. Bol Bol (foot) has already been ruled out while Eric Gordon (wrist) carries a ‘questionable’ tag.
Even if Doncic and Irving wind up playing, it’s possible that neither man will be at 100%, whereas the Suns would be just fine if Gordon can’t suit up.
Will Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving be healthy enough to face the Suns?
The Suns are on a roll at the moment while the Mavericks aren’t exactly in a position to stop them. Dallas has been terribly inconsistent lately — especially on offense — and winning will only be tougher if the team’s injury situation takes a turn for the worst. After the Mavericks picked up a 14-point win on Christmas Day, look for the Suns to exact some revenge in enemy territory this evening.
As for the best bet, I’m just sticking with a Phoenix outright victory. Although the spread is only at 2.5 points in the visitors’ favor, the Suns are an abysmal 5-14-1 in their last 20 games and have only covered the spread once in their last seven collisions with the Mavericks. Considering how two of the Suns’ last four wins also only came by two points, I’m fine with a moneyline bet this time around.

Best Suns vs Mavericks NBA Prop Bet (1/24)
I’m going with Grayson Allen to hit over 2.5 three-pointers as the best Suns vs. Mavericks player prop bet tonight.
Allen has been a machine from deep this season, averaging a career-high 2.8 threes made with an NBA-leading 49.1 3P%. He’s hit the Over on this prop 13 times throughout the 2023-24 season, even doing so in each of his last five outings — averaging 4.4 threes on 64.7% shooting during that stretch.
Dallas hasn’t been that special at guarding the three-ball this season, allowing the 17th-most threes on the 16th-best percentage. The Mavericks also allowed Allen to finish with a whopping eight threes made on Christmas, which bodes well for his chances of making good on this prop again.
