The Western Conference Final shifts to Edmonton for Game 3. Colorado holds a 2-0 advantage through the first two games of the series.
Game 2 was a 4-0 Avalanche shutout, something completely different from the 8-6 final in Game 1. Colorado tightened up defensively and only allowed the Oilers 24 shots on goal.
After the Over/Under was set at 7 or higher, seeing 4 total goals in the game was a big surprise. The Avalanche blocked 16 shots in the victory and took away all of the lanes to the net. They barely allowed Edmonton into the offensive zone in the 2nd and 3rd periods.
With BetOnline having the Avalanche as favorites on the road, Edmonton will have to rely more on the entire team, instead of their star players, who are being targeted by the Colorado defense.

Striking Fast
Game 2 was scoreless in the 2nd period when the Avalanche turned on the afterburners. They scored 3 times in a matter of 2:04 to seemingly put the game out of reach.
Artturi Lehkonen, Josh Manson, and Mikko Rantanen were the goal scorers in the second period. Lehkonen got on the board first, then Manson added one 15 seconds later. They had the Oilers on their heels for the remainder of the game.
Nazem Kadri continued his strong playoff effort with 3 assists in that second period barrage. His totals for the playoffs now sit at 6 goals and 8 assists.
Another trend was extended last night in the second period. In the Avalanche’s last 10 games, the Over 1.5 second period goals mark has hit. Also, Colorado has now won their last 6 games as favorites against Edmonton.
They will take both of these trends into Game 3 with a chance to extend them. As the favorite, they will try to make it 7 straight victories over Edmonton. With the firepower both teams possess, the second period mark is likely to continue as well.
Avalanche vs. Oilers Prediction and Best Bets
Avalanche vs. Oilers Prediction: Avalanche 5, Oilers 3
Avalanche vs. Oilers Best Bets: Avalanche -1.5 (+180 at BetOnline and Bovada Sportsbook)
Colorado have covered the puck line in both games of the Western Conference Final so far. Their defense is improving, and they are continuing to get healthier. Even though they have their backup goaltender in net, the defense has done enough to give them a massive advantage in the series.
The puck line for Colorado provides the best value out of any regular bet for this matchup. Their offense has scored 12 goals in two games, and their defense has only allowed 6 goals to one of the most explosive offenses in the NHL. Bet the Avs to take another step forward on their quest for the Cup.
