We have another critical game out of the Eastern Conference tonight. The Boston Bruins will visit the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center. These two teams last played in December and the Bruins won 4-1.
Boston is 37-23-6 this season and fourth in the Atlantic Division. They come into this game off a shootout win over the Capitals on Saturday. The Bruins ae 5-3-2 in their last ten games and 12-14-5 on the road this year.
It's a crazy time right now for this team. They currently are sitting in the first wild card spot but only have the spot because they have the tie breaker over Detroit. They are also only one game out of tying for third seed in the division.
Their offense has its bright spots. They rank eleventh in goals scored per game and eighth in power play conversion. Boston ranks twenty first in shots on goal per game, but has the fifth best shooting percentage, so they're making them count.
The Bruins are definitely struggling on defense to a point. They rank eighteenth in goals allowed and fourth worst in the league for shots on goal allowed per game. Boston doesn't play a smart game, committing over six penalties per game.
Goalie Jeremy Swayman is expected to get the start. He is 25-14-3 this season with a 2.73 GAA and a .886 save percentage. Swayman is playing fresh off the high of winning an Olympic Gold Medal and is 4-2-0 since back from the break.

New Jersey most likely out of a playoff spot unless a miracle occurs

New Jersey Devils forward Nico Hischier has the control of the puck in the offensive zone.
The Devils are 33-31-2 this year and seventh in the Metro Division. They come into this game off a win over the Kings on Saturday. New Jersey is 5-5-0 in their last ten games and are 17-15-2 at home.
At this rate, it could be tank time for the Devils. They haven't been able to really get it going and secure wins. New Jersey is currently thirteen points out of the third seed in the division and twelve points out of the second wild card spot.
This team's offense should be much better than they have been given the roster. They rank in the bottom of the league for goal scored per game. The Devils do rank fifth in shots on goal per game but have the second worst shooting percentage in the league.
On defense, they're fall in the middle of the league. New Jersey is fifteenth in goals allowed and fourteenth in shots on goal allowed per game. They play smart hockey and commit the least number of penalties in the league and kill of 79% of the ones they do commit.
In net, we're expected to see Jacob Markstrom. He is 19-16-1 with a 2.97 GAA and a .886 save percentage. Let's check out the odds and get into the Bruins vs. Devils picks.

This is the nitty gritty now. Boston is no stranger of the playoffs and are in one heck of a spot with the chance to get one of two spots. I think they come into this game firing and get the absolute needed win.
It's such a must win for them and I think they deliver. Boston will get to Markstrom if they can put pucks on net throughout the game. I also think Swayman is going to give New Jersey some trouble to add to it.
I like for David Pastrnak to lead his team. Give me his 4 or more shots on goal. He has hit this line in his last two games, having 8 in his last game. Pasta has also hit in his last four of five games. He knows what time it is and going to be doing everything he can for this team.
