Superstar striker Erling Haaland will face off against his former club tonight in UEFA Champions League action as Manchester City host Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad Stadium.
The home team kick-off this match as the red-hot betting favourites with the bookies, and that should come as no surprise.
City and Dortmund are no strangers to playing at this level and have met in the past, with the pair already sharing four meetings.
City lead the head-to-head stats, but there’s little in it with the British side on two wins against one draw and a single victory for Dortmund. This promises to be a thrilling 90 minutes, but which team wins?

City hit the front early
Manchester City is expected to make light work of the group they share with Borussia Dortmund, Copenhagen and Sevilla.
Having already won their opening match, City has a chance to go two for two while taking out the main competition in the process. Victory – even at this early stage – would go some way to securing their passage through to the knockout rounds.
City threw away their chance to make the final last season when conceding late goals from a comfortable position. Their leaky defence – which has been a problem for a few seasons now – saw the English champions snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, and it appears they haven’t learned their lesson.
In their last five competitive matches, Man City have scored 18 goals but conceded six, although half of those came in a bad-tempered match with Newcastle United at St James Park that finished 3-3.
The home team have kept a clean sheet in two of their last three and enjoyed a break from the action at the weekend after their home match with Tottenham was postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Dortmund have it all to do in Manchester
The visitors arrive in England with the same number of points as their hosts after winning on matchday one. The Germans are expected to follow Man City through to the next round as runners-up in the pool, and they are going the right way about it just now.
The Bundesliga outfit opened their campaign with a 3-0 win over an FC Copenhagen side that looked out of its depth at this level.
The Danes will take a few painful defeats in the six group games, so we shouldn’t get too carried away with that win for Dortmund, although they deserve credit for the performance and three goals scored.
Is a comfortable City win on the cards?
There isn’t much to like about the chances of an away win in this match, with the Germans arriving on the back of a poor result.
They were beaten 3-0 by RB Leipzig at the weekend, and that hammering came at exactly the wrong time, with confidence levels crashing ahead of this trip.
Will Borussia Dortmund turn it around and spring a surprise to catapult themselves into pole position? It’s possible, of course, but just not very likely, and it isn’t easy to build a strong case for them leaving England with anything to show for their efforts other than the air miles.
The visitors’ best chance comes from meeting Man City early, setting up defensively and trying to limit their chances. The longer this match remains goalless, the more unrest we’ll see in the stands, which will filter down onto the pitch.
Playing at home and having already hammered Sevilla 4-0 in their opening match, the home team will be full of confidence and ready to put on a show.
The break before this match would have been made most welcome, and we expect Man City to be better, sharper and stronger for it.
