UEFA Champions League Predictions, Odds & Best Bets (3/4)

The Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League is finally here! All season long, teams have battled to make the UCL bracket, and now it’s time to crown the best of the best. Let’s take a look at all four matchups today and find our best bets in the Champions League for Tuesday!

Remember, matches today are the first leg of a two leg contest between the teams. There are no extra incentives for scoring on the road, and teams simply need to win on aggregate score to advance to the quarterfinals. UEFA Champions League: Tuesday’s Soccer Action

Keep in mind lines are adjusted and as sharp as they can be. Matches today will only play 90 minutes, regardless of the result, with the possibility of extra time to break an aggregate tie next week.

Club Brugge vs Aston Villa Best Bets

Best Bets: Brugge/Villa Under 2.5 (-125) BetOnline

Pay a little juice for a cushion on the under in this matchup. Aston Villa has been sitting at home, waiting to attack whomever they drew in the Round of 16. Club Brugge just had two hard fought battles against Atalanta, barely squeaking through. Against an EPL opponent, their task to win is much tougher.

Villa have been incredibly sound defensively. They’ve allowed just 6 total goals in 8 UCL matches so far this competition, while scoring 13 of their own. As for Club Brugge, offense has certainly been an issue. They netted just 12 goals in the 10 matches they’ve played, resulting in a -1 goal differential. Now, these teams actually played at Club Brugge earlier in the UCL, resulting in Brugge winning 1-0 on November 6th. The lone goal being a PK in the 52nd minute. Aston Villa produced just 1 shot on target that match, but I see Club Brugge being able to slow their attack down again.

As they host a high powered offense tonight, I’ve got to imagine their focus will be on the defensive side of things. Slowing down Villa is no easy task, but that may be the hosts best chance at survival tonight.

Prediction: Aston Villa Wins 1-0 (+750)

Borussia Dortmund vs Lille Best Bets

Heavy Lean: Both Teams To Score – Yes (-120) BetOnline

Two high flying offenses go head to head today in Germany as Borussia Dortmund hosts French side, Lille. Dortmund’s offense has been lights out all season, especially recently. They’ve score 25 goals in 10 UEFA Champions League matches, and outside of the UCL, they score at will in the Bundesliga, coming off two shutouts won by a combined score of 8-nil. The Germans have not allowed a goal in UCL play since facing Shakhtar Donetsk in late January.

As for Lille, they haven’t played in the UCL in a while, but they have been handling business in Ligue 1. Aside from the fact that they are coming off a 4-1 loss @ PSG this past weekend. One could say Lille was looking ahead to their UCL matches this week, however, I’m not too high on this team.

Im not very fond of Dortmund either, but they’ve certainly been in better form recently than their visitors. Today I see Dortmund getting the best of Lille, but not by too much, and I could see the French getting their revenge next week. Regardless, nothing for me in this match, although I do think we see some fireworks from both sides.

Prediction: Dortmund Wins 2-1 (+675)

PSV vs Arsenal Best Bets

Best Bets: PSV/Arsenal Under 2.5 (-132) BetOnline

PSV has been one of the most aggressive offenses in the Champions League this season. They netted 16 goals in their first 8 league phases matches while adding another 4 in their knockout round matchup against Juventus. They are scoring 2 goals per contest in this competition, but now they face the toughest defense on the board.

In 8 league phase matches, Arsenal allowed just three goals. However, all three of those goals were given up on the road. I do not see PSV scoring next week in the Emirates, so they need to get all of their goals in the back of the net tonight. But of course that’s no easy task against the Gunners.

Despite PSV most likely being aggressive, I don’t know how much success they will have. The Gunners know they have another opportunity at home to win this round, so they may be a little conservative on the road, especially with their current injuries. I see this being a game in which PSV throws everyone forward, hoping something finds the back of the net, while Arsenal is happy playing to a scoreless draw before likely winning this round on their own turf.

Prediction: Arsenal Wins 1-0 (+700)

Real Madrid vs Atlético Madrid Best Bets

Best Bet: Real Madrid ML (-112) BetOnline

The defending Champions took down Manchester City in the knockout round and now face Atlético in the Madrid Derby in the Round of 16. Real Madrid is hosting the first match, and we will be backing them on the ML.

These teams have played twice already in La Liga, both matches ending in a 1-1 draw. In the first meeting, it took a 90’+5′ minute equalizer from Atlético just to force a draw on their home field back in September. More recently, the teams faced off in the Bernabéu in early February. Atlético took a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute on a Penalty Kick, but none other than Kylian Mbappé tied things up early in the 2nd half.

The point is, Real Madrid are the better team here and in reality, should’ve beaten their rivals twice already. At home, I see them sucking the life out of their opponent with a dominating win from start to finish. Atlético have been sitting at home after advancing directly to the Round of 16, and they’ve handled business in La Liga while waiting. However this match has a lot higher stakes, and a much tougher opponent than they’ve seen over their past few matches.

Give me the hosts to win this first leg, en route to another UEFA Champions League Quarterfinal appearance.
