Montreal Alouettes vs. Calgary Stampeders CFL Week 7 Prediction & Picks cover (Calgary Stampeders QB Vernon Adams Jr.)

cfl

Last Saturday, points were not at a premium at Molson Stadium as Davis Alexander and Montreal got the better of Vernon Adams Jr. and Calgary. Today, the Alouettes and Stampeders will battle again, this time at McMahon Stadium in Calgary as CFL Week 7 action continues.

In last Saturday's matchup in Montreal, the Alouettes went up early and never trailed as they improved to 4-1 for the season and 3-0 at home, while the Stampeders dropped to 2-3 for the season and 1-1 on the road.

How will this afternoon's rematch play out? At Lucky Rebel and other top online sportsbooks, Montreal is a slight favorite, while the total is in the 60s after a prolific start for both teams.

Alouettes vs. Stampeders Prediction and Picks

Expect another high-scoring game between Montreal and Calgary.

The Stampeders are first in the CFL in scoring at 38.8 points per game, while the Alouettes are third at 34.0 PPG. Alexander (1,399 passing yards, 14 TD, 0 INT) is first among active QBs (excluding the injured Bo Levi Mitchell) in passing efficiency, while Alexander (1,779 passing yards, 8 TD, 0 INT) is third.

On the other side of the ball, early results have not been fantastic for either team. Montreal has given up 30+ points in four straight games and 27+ in every game, while Calgary has given up 30+ points in every game.

It's hard to see anything other than another shootout, though this time around I like the Stampeders to come out on the winning end at home. Alexander is now 15-1 in the regular season as a starter, but the defense is playing with fire a bit too much. They had a decent enough day against Adams to get the win last week, but I don't think they will be able to limit him as well as this week.

Alouettes vs. Stampeders Picks: 1) Stampeders ML (+110 at Lucky Rebel) 2) Tyson Philpot Over 97.5 Receiving Yards (-115 at Lucky Rebel) 3) Jalen Philpot Over 59.5 Receiving Yards (-115 at Lucky Rebel)

All five of Montreal's games have been decided by seven or fewer points, and while they have come out on top in the balance of those games, you will get burned eventually playing the same game time and time again.

Whatever the result, look for the Philpot twins to be productive again. Last week, Tyson continued his outstanding start with nine catches for 132 yards, his fourth straight game with at least eight catches and 120 yards. Jalen had a solid night, catching seven passes for 66 yards, his third game with 60+ yards this season. I will be surprised if either falls short of the over.
