Tomorrow night the North Carolina Tar Heels and Oklahoma Sooners will square off in Game 1 of the College World Series from Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska. It's a best of 3 championship series. Game 2 is on Sunday, June 21st and a possible winner-take-all Game 3 would be played on Monday, June 22nd. North Carolina is seeking their first College Baseball Title ever, while Oklahoma is looking for their 3rd and first since 1994.

North Carolina Tar Heels vs Oklahoma Sooners Betting Insights

North Carolina and Oklahoma is a championship series not many people thought we get at the start of the tournament.

The Tar Heels might of been a potential sleeper pick, but certainly not thought of as one of the top favorites. They were a preseason top 25 team and have been one of the better programs in the sport in recent years. UNC is the only school in the country to reach Omaha and make the College World Series in 2 of the last 3 years. However, that national title has eluded the Tar Heels and they are hoping to reach the mountain top for the first time in school history.

Oklahoma on the other hand has been a huge surprise. Before the season started, the Sooners reaching this spot would have been a shock and when the bracket came out it might of been an even bigger surprise. Skip Johnson has done an incredible job with this team. Guiding them to 8 straight wins in the NCAA Tournament and now two wins away from winning a national championship.

Can North Carolina beat Oklahoma? That is something a team hasn't been able to do in the last few weeks.

The Sooners entered the NCAA College Baseball Tournament at 32-21 after a brutal schedule. That's life in the SEC. They found their way in the tournament and had to go to Atlanta to play Georgia Tech who was one of the favorites to win the title. The Yellow Jackets were a powerhouse with one of the best offenses in the country and the #2 overall seed. After losing to Georgia Tech 9-3, the Sooners got on a roll. They defeated The Citadel to avoid elimination and then proceeded to beat Georgia Tech in two consecutive days to advance to the Super Regionals.

Oklahoma went to Lawrence, Kansas to take on KU in a matchup between old BIG 12 foes. Kansas had an incredible year, the best in school history and yet it was no match for the Sooners. Oklahoma beat Kansas by a combined score of 21-3 in the two games.

Oklahoma got to Omaha and its been more of the same. A 9-0 shutout win in their first game against Alabama. And then two consecutive wins against Georgia who was the #3 overall seed in the tournament and had hit the 3rd most home runs ever in a single season.

The Sooners have defeated the #2 overall seed Georgia Tech twice, #15 Kansas, #7 Alabama and #3 Georgia twice. They have started 3 straight true freshman in Omaha and all three of them have delivered. This team is on a roll right now and it's not a team I want to fade. UNC is a heck of a team. #5 overall seed, 53-12-1 on the season, and they have also won all 3 games so far in the College World Series. On paper, UNC is the better team and should be the favorite.

OU is battled tested playing in the SEC, and have beaten quality team after quality team in the NCAA Tournament. If they continue to give us the Sooners as underdogs, I'll continue to bet them. +132 in Game 1 and +140 to win the series.
