Ontario iGaming posted a strong performance during June 2026, building on another impressive month for the province's licensed operators. The latest figures showed steady growth across wagering, revenue, and player participation, highlighting the continued strength of the regulated market.

The results also demonstrated sustained consumer confidence in licensed platforms. As a result, Canada online sportsbooks and Canada online casinos continued attracting players while reinforcing Ontario's position as North America's largest regulated online gaming jurisdiction.

Canada Online Sportsbooks Help Push Ontario Gambling to Another Strong Month

According to iGaming Ontario, regulated operators accepted CAD $9.46 billion in total wagers during June 2026. The figure remained broadly in line with May's performance and represented another month above the CAD $9 billion mark.

June's handle also remained just below March 2026's record of CAD $9.59 billion, confirming that Ontario's market has maintained exceptional momentum throughout the year.

Meanwhile, gross gaming revenue reached CAD $400.6 million, marking another strong monthly result for licensed operators. The province also recorded 1.32 million active player accounts, reflecting continued growth in customer participation.

Sports betting remained an important contributor to the province's success. Major international events encouraged bettors to remain active throughout the month, while licensed operators continued expanding their product offerings.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup played a key role in driving betting activity across regulated platforms. The tournament generated substantial wagering interest, helping boost handle for many Canada online sportsbooks. 

Football's worldwide popularity encouraged both existing customers and first-time bettors to use licensed operators during the competition.

Ontario's regulated framework also continued attracting players away from unlicensed websites. Consumers benefited from stronger safeguards, responsible gambling tools, secure payment options, and competitive betting markets.

Canada Online Casinos Continue Fueling Ontario Gambling Growth

While sports betting generated significant wagering volume, Canada online casinos once again produced the majority of the province's gaming revenue.

During June, Canada online casinos generated CAD $8.30 billion in wagers, accounting for 88% of Ontario's total handle. According to iGaming Ontario, that was the third-highest monthly online casino handle since the regulated market launched, trailing only March 2026 and May 2026's record. The figure also represented a 30.5% increase compared to June 2025.

Online casino operators also produced CAD $316.8 million in gross gaming revenue, representing 79% of the market's total GGR. Although revenue fell 3% from May's record CAD $326.4 million, it still increased 30.4% year over year, highlighting continued growth across Ontario's regulated casino market.

Online slots, digital table games, and live dealer titles continued attracting consistent player activity throughout the month. Unlike sports betting, casino gaming benefits from year-round engagement rather than relying on major sporting calendars.

The continued popularity of casino products helped support another month of strong financial performance. Stable player spending also suggested that Ontario's regulated market continues maturing while maintaining healthy customer engagement.

Ontario's iGaming Market Appears Well Positioned for Continued Growth

Industry observers expect Ontario gambling to remain on a positive trajectory during the second half of 2026.

Although the 2026 FIFA World Cup will conclude, several major sporting events should continue supporting wagering activity for Canada online sportsbooks. At the same time, Canada online casinos are expected to sustain growth through new game releases, live dealer expansion, and ongoing promotional campaigns.

Ontario's competitive regulatory framework also continues encouraging investment from licensed operators. New technology, improved player experiences, and enhanced responsible gambling measures should strengthen the market further.

Monthly performance will naturally fluctuate, yet the province's long-term outlook remains encouraging.

Continued migration to regulated operators, combined with strong consumer demand and a mature regulated ecosystem, should help Ontario sustain healthy wagering and revenue growth in the months ahead.
