Pennsylvania gambling reached new benchmarks in June 2026, although total monthly gaming revenue declined slightly year over year. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) released its latest report, showing that the state's regulated operators generated $535.3 million, down 1.73% from $544.7 million in June 2025.
Monthly revenue also fell sharply from May's record $625.5 million. Still, digital channels and wagering volume continued reaching new heights across the market.
Strong online casino growth supported the state's broader performance. Meanwhile, Pennsylvania's US online sportsbooks attracted significant betting activity during a busy month of major sporting events.
However, low sportsbook holds reduced operators' overall returns. Bettor-friendly results across several major competitions helped push sports betting revenue lower despite stronger wagering volume.
The latest figures therefore present a mixed picture. Pennsylvania's digital gambling market continues expanding rapidly, while monthly revenue can fluctuate significantly based on sportsbook results.
Pennsylvania Gambling Sets Records During Fiscal Year
Pennsylvania's regulated gambling market reached an all-time high during Fiscal Year 2025/26. Total gaming revenue climbed to approximately $7.01 billion, up from $6.39 billion during the previous fiscal year.
The record result also generated approximately $3.10 billion in state tax revenue. Therefore, Pennsylvania gambling delivered another major contribution to public finances.
Digital gambling played the leading role in that growth. Combined revenue from iGaming and sports betting reached approximately $3.60 billion. That figure represented 51.3% of Pennsylvania's total regulated gaming revenue.
As a result, online gambling outperformed the state's physical casino market for the first time. Retail slot machines and table games generated a combined $3.35 billion during the same fiscal year.
Online casino gaming remained the strongest growth engine. iGaming revenue increased 18.4% year over year to $2.93 billion. The result cemented Pennsylvania as the largest legal iGaming market in the United States.
The state's results also show why US online casinos continue gaining importance within the national gambling industry. Pennsylvania's digital casino market has expanded rapidly since launching in 2019.
Consequently, online gaming now represents a larger share of the state's overall gambling economy.
US Online Sportsbooks See Strong Betting Activity in June
Pennsylvania's US online sportsbooks attracted substantial betting activity during June 2026. Online and retail operators accepted approximately $570.3 million in wagers.
The figure marked an 18% year-over-year increase and extended Pennsylvania's streak of monthly handles above $500 million. It also represented the state's 11th consecutive month above that threshold.
Several major sporting events helped drive the surge. The month featured the NBA Finals and NHL Finals, alongside three US men's national team matches during the FIFA World Cup.
The World Cup also created additional interest among casual bettors. As a result, soccer betting helped increase activity across Pennsylvania's online sportsbooks.
Nevertheless, operators struggled to convert that volume into comparable profits. The statewide hold percentage fell to 8.4%, marking the lowest win rate of 2026.
Bettor-friendly results across several major events contributed to the decline. The NBA Finals, NHL Finals, and USMNT group-stage success all produced outcomes that favored bettors.
Bettor-Friendly Sports Results Cut Operator Revenue
Despite strong betting activity, sportsbook revenue fell 28.1% year over year to approximately $48 million. Taxable revenue dropped even further, falling 40% to approximately $31 million.
The results demonstrate how betting volume does not always translate into higher operator earnings. Sportsbooks can attract more wagers while losing a greater share of those bets.
Consequently, the weak hold helped drag down Pennsylvania's overall monthly gaming revenue. The impact was particularly notable after May's record monthly performance.
Pennsylvania's fiscal-year sports betting results still remained strong. Gross sports wagering revenue increased 35.9% to $662.9 million during FY 2025/26.
Online Casinos Continue Driving Pennsylvania Gambling Growth
US online casinos remained a central force behind Pennsylvania gambling's record performance. The state's iGaming market generated $242.5 million in June revenue, representing a 14.1% year-over-year increase.
Online slots, table games, and poker contributed to the monthly total. Their continued growth helped offset weaker performance across certain land-based segments.
The broader fiscal-year figures were even stronger. Online casino revenue reached $2.93 billion, up 18.4% from the previous year.
That growth reflects increasing consumer demand for digital gambling products. It also shows how Pennsylvania's regulated market continues shifting toward online platforms.
For operators, the trend creates a valuable opportunity to expand their digital offerings. For players, it provides greater access to online casino products within a regulated market.
Overall, Pennsylvania's June results reinforce the state's position as one of the leading US gambling markets. Digital gaming continues expanding, while sports betting attracts major wagering volumes.
The month also highlights the difference between betting activity and revenue performance. Although digital channels and wagering volume reached new benchmarks, low sportsbook holds clipped overall monthly revenue.
Still, Pennsylvania's record fiscal-year results confirm the growing importance of online gambling. The latest figures also show why US online casinos and US online sportsbooks remain central to the industry's future.
