Angels vs. Blue Jays Analysis & Breakdown
The Blue Jays currently sit last in the AL East
This season really hasn't gone the way the Blue Jays and most of their fans were expecting. Toronto currently sits last in the AL East, 12 games back of a Wild Card spot.
The Blue Jays had to deal with their fare share of injuries this year. Starting shortstop, Bo Bichette, has only played in 79 of the Jays' games this season, recording a career worst 0.223 batting average.
Bichette was coming off 3 straight seasons of either leading the league in hits, or finishing top 3. This season he just didn't seem healthy and it showed in his game. One of the few bright spots for Toronto this year was Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Outside of home runs and RBIs, Vladdy's having a career season and he's been one of the lone bright spots of this Blue Jays squad. Management made little to no moves at the deadline and it looks like they believe in this group.
The Angels have been even worse this season. After losing Ohtani to their "in-city" rival, the Angels lost Mike Trout before the summer even started. They've had issues putting up runs, they've had issues stopping the opposing team from scoring. It's been bad.
We've got two bad teams going head to head tonight and sometimes those are the best games to bet on.

Vladdy has been on a different planet this season. He's hitting 0.318 on the season with 26 home runs and 81 RBI. At home he's hitting 0.343 with a 0.562 SLG and 42 RBI.
All signs point to Vladdy tonight and I'm loving this spot for him. He's got a career 0.250 batting average against Canning but with a really small sample size. He's got 1 hit on 4 at-bats, but that 1 hit did leave the yard.
Guerrero's also killed the Angels both this season, and in his career. It probably has something to do with that being his father's former team, but you're guess is as good as mine.
Vlad's hitting 0.429 against the Angels this year, he's got 2 home runs and 4 RBI in just 3 matchups so far. All 3 of these games came on the road and now Vladdy and company will host the Angels at the Rogers Centre. He's also hit his bases in 8 of his L11 games against the Angels and looks hungry for more tonight.

We're fading Griffin Canning, plain and simple. The Blue Jays offense hasn't been the best this season but this is a line they've hit in all 3 matchups with the Angels this season. Canning has an ERA north of 5 and he's given up 4+ runs in 6 of his L9 starts.
He doesn't have much history at all against this Blue Jays squad, and tonight at the Rogers Centre, he might have a tough time. The Blue Jays just finished a 3-game stand with the Reds in which they averaged over 6 runs per game.
The offense is starting to heat up, it might just be too little too late.
