Angels @ Royals Analysis & Breakdown
The Royals currently sit just 2.5 games back of the Guardians for 1st in the AL Central.
The Royals this season have outplayed even the highest of expectations. Kansas City is 70-55 this year, 39-25 at home and sit just 2 games back of the Guardians for 1st in the division.
KC ranks 3rd in runs per game at home this year, averaging 5.27 runs per game and they've recorded a 0.270 team batting average at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals have been good on the road, but they've been GREAT in front of the home crowd.
It's been the MVP-like season by their young stud, Bobby Witt Jr. that's really set the Royals apart. He's posted a 0.349 batting average this year with 25 home runs and 91 RBI.
There isn't much to say about the Angels. Their stud Mike Trout has once again missed most of the season due to injury and they've looked terrible. Trout hasn't played since the end of May and it doesn't seem like he'll be back this year.
The Angels are 53-72 and averaging just under 4 runs per game and rank 22nd in team batting average. Things are going to get worse for the Angels before they get better.

Cole Ragans has been a vital part of this Royals rotation this season, a big reason why they've been so good.
The Angels have been bad this year and offensively they've been even worse. With the departure of Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout once again injured, there's really no one left in this Angels offense.
Ragans leads the Royals pitching staff in strikeouts, he's recorded 10 wins and posted a 3.18 ERA. Despite posting a better ERA on the road (2.70) this year, Cole's been great at home.
Cole's 2nd among all pitchers in strikeouts at home this year, averaging 7.14 strikeouts per game and 11.64 strikeouts per 9 (3rd). He's hit this line in 8 of his 14 starts, and 7 of his L10 overall.
The Angels don't strike out a whole lot, but recently that's changed. They just gave up 8 strikeouts last night to the Royals top dog, Seth Lugo; also giving up 7 to Morton and 10 to Chris Sale in the two games prior.
Ragans has gone 6 or more innings in 18 of his 25 starts this year, and 9 of his 14 home starts. He looks poised for another big start against the Angels so let's lock in with Mr. Ragans.
