Braves @ Diamondbacks Analysis & Breakdown
The Diamondbacks are currently 3.5 games back of the Padres for a Wild Card spot.
The Braves have not looked like the same Braves team we saw last year. Acuna Jr's injury really hurt Atlanta but reduced production from guys like Austin Riley and Matt Olson really came as a surprise.
Olson hit 54 home runs last year and recorded 139 RBI. No one was expecting him to put up the same kind of historic numbers, but Olson's on pace to finish with less than half the home runs and a significant drop in RBI.
Riley's drop hasn't been as dramatic, but his numbers are still down.
Arizona's coming off a World Series appearance but currently sit 3.5 games out of a Wild Card spot. It's a similar place to where they were last season, but the play of their youngster Corbin Carroll is concerning.
He finished with 25 home runs and 75 RBI last season in 155 games. This season, through 89 games, he's got 3 home runs with 25 RBI and he's batting 0.210. It's been a rough go for the young kid but it's not about how you start, it's about how you finish.
