Cubs vs. Marlins: Not every play today comes without hesitation, and this one brings a bit of caution. Kyle Stowers is red-hot, but there are reasons to be measured. Still, the matchup and price are too strong to ignore.

Cubs vs. Marlins Best Bet
The one play I am most concerned with today is Kyle Stowers over 1.5 bases. Why? He is currently riding a seven-game hit streak, and I typically shy away from players sitting on extreme highs. However, the matchup and the price are what bring us here.
Entering today, Stowers is hitting .303 with a .940 OPS. He holds the fourth-best matchup rating in this game, according to Batters-Box.com. He will face veteran Cubs starter Jameson Taillon, who owns the seventh-worst pitcher rating on the slate. On top of that, he carries a sub-6.00 ERA and a .276 opponent batting average on the road. Four of his six pitches grade below league average, and his average hitter matchup ISO is poorly rated, per FanGraphs.
Stowers matches up too well against those offerings to fade solely out of concern that his hit streak might end. Yes, he has only cleared this number three times during the streak, but the underlying matchup supports the play. I am trusting the data here and hoping the results follow.
