The Mets offense has been on fire. According to FanGraphs, they rank second in all of baseball over the last two weeks. Over the past week, they have claimed the top spot.
They enter today with four elite-rated hitters on Batters-Box default ratings, which span the last three seasons. In the current season ratings, they have six elite bats. This season, the Mets are averaging 2.68 runs in the first five innings. Meanwhile, the Nationals are allowing that exact number on the road.
Mike Soroka takes the bump for Washington and enters with the fourth-worst pitcher rating on the slate. He owns a poor matchup wOBA and ISO. The right-hander is allowing 2.8 runs, 4.85 hits, and 2.14 extra-base hits per start. He leans heavily on fastballs and curveballs—two pitches the Mets have crushed all year.
Do not be surprised if Juan Soto or Pete Alonso stay hot and leave the yard this afternoon. At even money, it is tough to pass on this red-hot offense against a subpar arm. I love it. Sko Mets.
