It has been an impressive start to MLB life for Seattle Mariners pitcher Bryce Miller, and he will look to keep it going tonight as the Mariners (28-25, 16-13 home) host the New York Yankees (32-23, 13-10 away).

Miller hit the ground running in his debut earlier this month and has jumped into the AL Rookie of the Year conversation, along with doing his part to help the M’s have a successful month after entering May with a 12-16 record.

Will Miller mow down the Bronx Bombers to add to his ROY credentials? Read on for our prediction and best bets for today’s Yankees vs Mariners game.

Will the Bronx Bombers Batter Bryce After Sunday Slugfest?

Last week didn’t start very well for the Yankees, who responded to going a season-high ten games over .500 by promptly losing three in a row, losing the final two games of their series against the Baltimore Orioles then the opener of their interleague series with the San Diego Padres.

But the week ended better than it started, as they took the last two games against San Diego, including a 10-7 win in yesterday’s rubber game.

Gerrit Cole allowed five runs in 6+ innings, but he still improved to 6-0 because a seven-run third inning set him with a comfortable lead to work with.

Now the Yankees are back on the road, where they have won six of seven.

A tough challenge is ahead against the Mariners, who are 6-1 on their current homestand. But those wins were against the woeful Oakland Athletics, who were swept away in a four-game series, and Pittsburgh Pirates, who have now lost 18 of their last 24 games after losing two of three at T-Mobile Park.

In his most recent start on Wednesday, Miller tossed six shutout innings against Oakland as he dominated the A’s for the second time this month. It was an excellent rebound from his worst performance to date, in which he gave up three runs and four hits in 6.1 innings at Atlanta the previous Friday.

Can the Yankees solve him like no one has thus far? Both teams are only one game over .500 in games following a win, but whereas the Yankees are a game under .500 as a road underdog (5-6), the Mariners are five games over .500 as a home favorite (15-10).
