The final matchup of Week 1 is a good one between the Broncos and Chiefs. Two teams with high expectations coming into the season. The Broncos are trying to prove last year's run to the AFC Championship game wasn't a fluke and KC wants to show they are back in the Super Bowl hunt. We get our first look at both teams tonight.

NFL Expert Insights: Broncos vs Chiefs

How will Bo Nix look coming off the injury?
I think the thing almost all of us want to see tonight is the health of both Quarterbacks. Bo Nix suffered a fractured right ankle against the Bills in their divisional round playoff win. He was unable to play against the Patriots in the AFC Title game. Patrick Mahomes suffered a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee during a game vs the Chargers in December. Both signal callers have no injury designation, but it'll be interesting to watch both guys in their first game back since the injury.
Patrick Mahomes holds an absurd 36-8 record against the AFC West in his career. Although last year he did lose at Denver. KC has been the king of this division until Denver won it last year. KC's big offseason acquisition to help them try and reclaim the division was Super Bowl MVP, Kenneth Walker. With questions still at WR for the Chiefs, most are expecting them to be a little run heavier this season then what we are used to. Walker could have a big year for the Chiefs if he stays healthy and that could start tonight.
As for Denver, they upgraded their WR room with the addition of Jaylen Waddle. They have a couple of different running back Sean Payton can lean on, but now they have another big play WR outside of Courtland Sutton. Excited to watch both Waddle and Walker make their debuts tonight if their new teams.

The Broncos are a team that I'm looking to fade this season. It's kind of funny, but last year they were the Chiefs from 2 years ago. Denver played 15 games last season that were decided by one score. They won 12 of those games. 12-3 is an absurd record in the NFL in one score games and something year to year that isn't sustainable. Just ask the Chiefs who two years ago went 12-0 in one score games and then followed it up last season by going 1-9. It's not a way to live in the NFL constantly winning close games and I think Denver could find that out this season.
Mahomes also has an incredible 30-13-1 ATS record when he is favored by 3 pts or less. How many times have we seen him and the Chiefs normally win these big coin flip games?
I also think part of the gameplan tonight for KC is to feature Kenneth Walker. You paid him 43 million dollars to come take the pressure off Mahomes and in his first game back against a very good defense I would look for Andy Reid to lean on the run a little bit. Gibbs, Bijan, Jonathan Taylor, Derrick Henry all these guys had massive Week 1 games. Would look for Walker to join them and take his over 15.5 rush attempts.
Should be a good one tonight in Arrowhead, but I think the Broncos regress in one score games this year. Mahomes is just so good against the division and in tight point spreads so I'll take KC on the ML. Not going to lay the 2 points because as we saw with Texas and Ohio State I don't think there's anything worse than having the favorite -1.5 or -2 and they win by 1.
