There's a battle in the Western Conference and we got you covered. The San Jose Sharks will head to Colorado for a battle against the Avalanche. These 2 teams met back in December and the Avs won 4-2.

Colorado is 36-24-2 this season and 4th in the Central Division. They're currently on a 3-game streak and are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games. The Avs play well at home with a 19-10-2 record and will look to add to that tonight.

Their offense is still one of the best in the league with all the weapons they have. Colorado ranks 8th for goals scored and 7th for shots on goal per game. Their power play is 14th, and their shooting percentage is 10th. Seems almost mediocre on paper, but we know that is not the case.

Defensively, they have one of the best defensemen in the league in Cale Makar. They rank 16th in goals allowed, but 3rd in shots on goal allowed per game. Their penalty kill is 14th in the league while committing just over 3 penalties per game.

Goalie Mackenzie Blackwood is expected in net vs his former team. He is 22-16-5 this season with a 2.36 GAA and a .916 save percentage. Blackwood was traded to the Avs in December in exchange for goalie Alexander Georgiev.

The Sharks are 17-37-9 this season and last in the Pacific Division. Not that it is very surprising as they are in their rebuild stage. They are looking to get their 3rd win in a row and are 2-5-3 in their last 10 games.

Offensively, this team has some young guns. Rookie sensation Macklin Celebrini is having a fantastic year. He has 19 goals and 26 assists so far, with the 2nd most points on the team. The team is 3rd to last in goals scored and shots on goal per game, so they have a lot of work to do.

Their defense is the worst in the league. They are worst for goals allowed and 2nd worst for shots on goal allowed per game. Their penalty kill is 24th in the league and they commit over 4 penalties a game. To win games, they have to put up 3-4 goals.

In net, we are expected to see Alexander Georgiev. He is 12-19-1 this season with a 3.19 GAA and a .879 save percentage. I'm sure he'll really be looking to get the W vs his former team. Let's check out the odds and get into the picks.

I will say off the bat that I like the Avs to take this, but there is very little value on the spread and no value on the moneyline. But I do think we see goal in this game. Between the Sharks young guns to the Avs top guns, this could become a fun one to watch.

They put up 6 goals in their last matchup and both teams had 30+ shots on goal. I think we see more of the same except one more goal is scored (lol). Seriously, Blackwood played great against them last game, but he can easily let up 3 to this crafty Sharks offense.

Georgiev is already allowed almost 4 goals a game and now faces a heavy offense that knows him well. He of course knows them, but the Avs offense is hard to control when clicking.

I kind of like both goalies to record over their saves line. They should be around 26-28 and I think both teams hit 30 again. I like Val Nichushkin to record 3+ shots on goal and will also sprinkle him for a goal. He scored in December and had 5 shots on target. Nichushkin has been playing great since returning from injury.
