NHL Toronto Maple Leafs vs Ottawa Senators Prediction and Best Bets: The Battle of Ontario

For the 2nd time this season, the Toronto Maple Leafs (12-6-4) take on the Ottawa Senators (10-10-0) at the Canadian Tire Centre. The Senators took the 1st matchup by a score of 6-3.

Ottawa is coming in on a 2-game win streak and are 6-4 in their last 10 games. They have played most of their games at home and are 8-7-0 at home this season. Although they are yet to find their groove, this team is packed with talent.

Team Captain and star Brady Tkachuk steers this ship. He leads the team with 13 goals and has 6 assists to go with it. Tim Stützle leads the team in points with 24 and 19 of those points are assists. Veteran Claude Giroux along with Drake Batherson and newly added Vladimir Tarasenko help power this offense.

Joonas Korpisalo was also added this offseason and isn't playing any were near where he was playing last year. He has a 5-6-0 record with a 3.41 GAA and a .897 save percentage. Backup goaltender Anton Forsberg has held his own with a 5-4-1 record. He has a 2.90 GAA and a .891 save percentage.

As a team, the Senators have the offense. They average 3.45 goals per game, ranks 6th in the league, and average 32.6 shots on goal per game, ranking 8th in the league. One of the things that kills them the most is they commit the most penalties per game and have a bad penalty kill. Recipe for disaster.

Now let's talk about Toronto. As we all know, they tend to be a strong regular season team to blow it in the playoffs. They're doing the 1st part right so far and everyone expects them to go deep this year.

Sitting 4th in the Atlantic Division, the Leafs have been solid at home and on the road. Toronto is coming off an OT loss to the Bruins but are 6-2-2 in their last 10 games. If the season were to end today, they would be the 1st Wild Card spot.

Toronto's Big 4 – Auston Matthews, William Nylander, John Tavares, and Mitch Marner – have all been going off. Each has 20+ points and Nylander leads the way with 29. These guys are proving once again what they can do (and that they're worth all that money!).

Goaltending has also been solid for the Leafs. Joseph Woll has gained the starting role and has a record of 8-5-1. His GAA is 2.82 and has a save percentage of .915. Ilya Samsonov has assumed the backup spot and has a record of 4-1-3 to start the season.
