Sam Soverel continued his strong run at the 2026 PGT PLO Series with another tournament victory. He defeated Robert Cowen heads-up in Event #6, a $15,700 Pot-Limit Omaha Mystery Bounty tournament.

Soverel earned $160,000 from the prize pool and another $90,000 through mystery bounties. His combined winnings reached $250,000 from a 46-entry field. The tournament created a $460,000 prize pool, with another $230,000 allocated to bounties.

The victory also extended Soverel's record to 17 PGT titles. It was his fourth PGT title overall in 2026, including victories outside this PGT PLO Series. He also won a PGT PLO Venetian event in March and a PGT Summer Series High Roller event in June.

Within the 2026 PGT PLO Series, however, Event #6 marked Soverel's second title. He previously won Event #1 for $122,850.

Soverel Controls the Final Table

Soverel entered the final day as the chip leader and maintained that advantage throughout the remaining action. He started the day with 3.24 million chips, more than 1.2 million ahead of Cowen.

Eelis Parssinen became Soverel's first final-table victim. Parssinen committed his remaining five big blinds with pocket aces on a ten-eight-six flop. However, Soverel had flopped the nut straight and eliminated him in fifth place.

Sean Winter followed in fourth after Soverel's two pair held against Winter's draws. Winter still secured the largest mystery bounty of the tournament, worth $100,000.

Steve Zolotow then finished third for $67,000. Zolotow had entered the final stages as one of the shorter stacks but survived several all-in situations before Cowen eliminated him.

That left Soverel and Cowen heads-up for the title. Soverel held more than a three-to-one chip lead and continued applying pressure before the final hand.

Deciding Hand Sends Soverel to Victory

Cowen's final chips went into the middle on the turn with a strong set.

The board showed A♦ J♠ 2♠ 10♦, giving Cowen a set of aces with A♠ A♣ 8♦ 4♥. Soverel held Q♠ J♣ 9♦ 7♦, giving him straight and flush draws.

Soverel needed to improve to overcome Cowen's made hand. The 3♦ arrived on the river, completing Soverel's flush and ending the tournament.

Cowen collected $101,000 for second place. His $40,000 in mystery bounties increased his total tournament winnings to $141,000.

Final Table Results

Place Player Country Prize Bounty Prize PGT Points
1st Sam Soverel United States $160,000 $90,000 192
2nd Robert Cowen United Kingdom $101,000 $40,000 121
3rd Steve Zolotow United States $67,000 — 80

5th Eelis Parssinen Finland $37,000 — 44
6th Sean Rafael United States $27,500 — 33
7th Joao Simao Brazil $19,000 — 23

The mystery bounty format added another major storyline to the event. The bounty prizes became available once the field reached 10 players.

Winter pulled the largest bounty, worth $100,000, during Day 1. Soverel and Cowen collected the remaining bounties between them during the final stages.

Soverel ultimately collected $90,000 in bounties. That included the final $30,000 bounty reserved for the tournament winner.

As a result, Winter earned more than Cowen despite finishing three places lower. His $48,500 prize combined with the $100,000 bounty gave him $148,500.

Soverel Takes the Series Lead

Soverel's victory earned him 192 PGT points and moved his series total to 376 points. He took the top position with two events remaining on the schedule.

Jonas Kronwitter followed with 364 points after winning Event #5. Richard Gryko sat third with 260 points.

Soverel's Event #1 victory means he has now won two tournaments in the 2026 PGT PLO Series. His other two PGT titles this year came in separate PGT events.

The PGT PLO Series features eight events, with the overall points leader receiving a $10,000 PGT Passport. The remaining events include a $15,700 PLO tournament and a $26,000 PLO tournament.

While Soverel's latest victory unfolded live at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas, fans tracking tournament action and sharpening their PLO strategy on US online poker sites can continue to follow the remaining events of the series as the race for the PGT Passport wraps up.

Soverel now leaves Event #6 with another trophy, $250,000 in combined winnings, and the series points lead. His latest title also adds to a record-setting PGT career while giving him two PGT PLO Series victories in 2026.
