We have a showdown out of the Eastern Conference on our hands. The Washington Mystics will be in town to take on the New York Liberty. These two teams just played each other five days ago and the Liberty crushed the Mystics.

New York is 11-4 and currently first in the East. They're on fire, coming into this game on an eight-game winning streak after another win over the Sky. The Liberty are 8-2 in their last ten games and 6-3 at home this season.

After a 3-4 start in their first seven games, the Liberty have kicked it into high gear. Guard Sabrina Ionescu missed some time and is getting back into form. She hit the winning layup last game to secure the win vs. Chicago.

Rookie Pauline Astier is really contributing. She has started 13 of her 15 games played while averaging 11 points, 3 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game. Fellow guard Marine Johannes has been having a good season as well, averaging 11 points and 3 assists per game. Both helped hold it down when Ionescu was injured.

Washington looks to ride momentum of win from last game

The Mystics are 6-7 this year and fifth in the East. They come into this game off a win over the Sun on Wednesday. Washington is 4-6 in their last ten games and are 4-4 on the road so far this season.

It's been a bit of a struggle for Washington with a lot of back and forth of winning and losing. They looked much better last game, but the Sun are one of the worst teams in the league, so it was a must win game. Second year guard Sonia Citron led the way with a double double.

Washington was without two of their bigs, Kiki Iriafen and Shakira Austin, last game. Both are nursing injuries, but Iriafen is expected to get the start tonight. They will need her down low to take on Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones. Austin is currently listed as questionable.

When these two teams met less than a week ago, a whooping was handed out. New York was in complete control of that game and never looked back. With the way they play at home, I see the same thing coming, especially with how hot the Liberty are.

New York has been very well rounded this year, getting contributions from all around. Forward Breanna Stewart is leading the team with 19.7 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game. She just had a double double vs. the Mystics, and I like her in this spot as well.

The Liberty will be too much for the Mystics to handle again. It's a big spread, but we're taking it for plus money as we should see another beatdown. Give me Jonquel Jones to git 2 or more three pointers for -115. She just had 3 vs. the Mystics and has had three or more in her last three games.
