There's a fat six-game slate on our hands today in the WNBA…Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. We're diving into the first game, the Phoenix Mercury taking on the Los Angeles Sparks. These two teams last met a month ago and the Sparks won by nine points.
Los Angeles is 10-15 this season and are sixth in the Western Conference. They come into this game on a rough, four-game losing streak after another loss on Sunday to the Wings. The Sparks are 3-7 in their last ten games and are 5-7 at home this year.

It's been a rough go since losing star guard Kelsey Plum to a lower left leg injury about a month ago. She was averaging a team high 23.9 points and team high 6.4 assists per game, holding both still since being out. They've looked to other players but are missing their star.
Los Angeles plays the fastest game in the league, ranking first in pace. They shoot the ball well, ranking fifth best in the league and move the ball well, ranking fifth in assists. Defense is where it all falls apart. They don't rebound well and rank in the bottom of the league for defensive rating.

Phoenix will look to make it two in a row after win on Sunday

Sparks guard Kelsey Plum and Mercury guard Jovana Nogic exchange words during a game earlier this season.
The Mercury are 9-18 this year and are seventh in the Western Conference. They come into this game off a win over Connecticut on Sunday. Phoenix is 4-6 in their last ten games and 5-9 on the road this season.
That win on Sunday snapped a five-game losing streak. This team lost three of those games to some of the best in the league like the Aces, Lynx and Fever, but still dropped games to the Sky and Sun. Despite that, they are not looking very good this season.
They rank in the bottom of the league offensively for things like points per game, pace and field gal percentage. It's not just the offense though, they do not rebound well or take care of the ball very well. On offense and defense, they rate twelfth in the league.
It could be a good game we have on our hands, regardless of their records. Lets' check out the odds and get into the Mercury vs. Sparks picks.

Even though they're favored on the line, they're still the underdog in my eyes with that losing streak. Give me the Sparks to snap the streak and get a win on their home floor. We're getting good value as I think even the books see this as a good spot for them.
This is a good spot for them to snap this streak. Even though the Mercury just did the same, they lost their previous game to the same team they just beat. It took a rematch for them to get the win. I don't think the Sparks will be pushovers in this game.
I also think this game goes over. The lack of defense here is going to be in full force, and I think both teams could score the rock plenty. I like for Nneka Ogwumike to get her rebounds and the same for DeWanna Bonner. Both ladies have been absolutely grubbin'.
