Michigan iGaming Revenue Hits $303M in August 2026

The Michigan iGaming market maintained its strong performance in August despite a broader slowdown in online wagering.

According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board's (MGCB) August report, operators generated $303 million in iGaming gross receipts. The figure remained close to July's $302.77 million total.

The market also posted $290.8 million in adjusted gross receipts (AGR) during August. That represented a 0.1% increase from July and a 17.6% rise year over year.

The results highlight the continued strength of Michigan's online casino sector. Meanwhile, online sports betting moved in the opposite direction during the month.

Michigan iGaming Continues to Outpace Sports Betting

Michigan's online gambling market produced $337.6 million in combined gross receipts during August. iGaming accounted for most of that total, generating $303 million.

Online sports betting contributed another $34.6 million in gross receipts. However, sports betting AGR fell 21.4% from July and 29.3% year over year.

Sports betting handle also declined during August. Operators accepted $330.5 million in wagers, down 7% from July.

That contrast gives Michigan gambling a clear split between its two major online segments. iGaming continued growing, while sportsbooks experienced weaker results.

For consumers comparing US online sportsbooks, Michigan's August figures also show the importance of separating betting activity from casino performance. Sports betting handle can shift considerably between individual months.

Meanwhile, the results provide another snapshot of how US online casinos can contribute substantially to regulated gaming markets. Michigan's iGaming segment generated most of the state's online gambling revenue during August.

With the NFL, NBA, and NHL seasons approaching, Michigan's sports betting handle could see increased wagering activity in the succeeding months. The return of major league schedules may also provide sportsbooks with more betting opportunities across the Wolverine State.

iGaming Generates $61.2 Million in State Payments

The strong iGaming results also produced substantial revenue for Michigan.

Operators paid $61.2 million in iGaming taxes and fees to the state during August. Combined with sports betting payments, operators submitted $62.8 million to Michigan.

The three Detroit casinos also reported nearly $13.9 million in wagering taxes and municipal service fees. Of that amount, $13.4 million came from iGaming.

Additionally, tribal operators reported $8.5 million in payments to governing bodies during August.

These payments demonstrate the financial contribution generated by Michigan's regulated online gaming market.

All 15 Authorized Operators Offer iGaming

Michigan's iGaming market also maintained broad operator participation during August.

The MGCB reported that 15 commercial and tribal operators were authorized to offer iGaming and online sports betting. All 15 operators offered iGaming, while 13 offered online sports betting.

As a result, online casino gaming remained a central component of the Wolverine State's regulated gambling industry.

August's figures therefore show continued annual expansion for Michigan iGaming. The market generated $290.8 million in AGR, up 17.6% from August 2025.

At the same time, the slight monthly increase suggests that iGaming remained relatively stable heading into the final months of summer. The segment's performance also helped offset weaker sports betting results.

Overall, the August report points to continued strength in Michigan's online casino market. iGaming remained the dominant source of online gambling revenue and state payments during the month.
