Nevada Online Sportsbooks Post Strong July Results

Nevada online sportsbooks delivered a strong performance in July 2026 as mobile wagering dominated the state's sports betting market. The state's sportsbooks handled $484.2 million in wagers during the month.

That figure represented a 15.5% increase from July 2025. Nevertheless, sportsbook revenue remained relatively flat as operators recorded about $38 million. Revenue increased by less than 1% year over year.

The latest figures come from the Nevada Gaming Control Board's report for July. The results highlight the growing importance of mobile betting within Nevada gambling.

Online Sportsbooks Generate Most Nevada Revenue

Online operators accounted for most of Nevada's sports betting activity during July. Mobile sportsbooks accepted approximately $352 million in wagers.

That figure represented 72.7% of Nevada's total sports betting handle. Online operators also generated $37.3 million in revenue.

The online market posted a 10.6% hold during July. According to reports, that marked the highest monthly online hold since Nevada began releasing mobile betting figures in 2020.

Meanwhile, retail sportsbooks handled approximately $132.2 million in wagers. Those operators generated less than $1 million in revenue.

Retail sportsbooks posted a 5.3% hold during July. Therefore, mobile operators produced substantially stronger results despite competing within the same overall market.

The figures also show how Nevada's betting landscape continues to evolve. The state remains famous for its casino sportsbooks, but bettors increasingly rely on mobile platforms.

World Cup Drives Record "Other" Sports Revenue

The 2026 FIFA World Cup provided another major boost during July. The tournament's knockout rounds continued through the middle of the month.

As a result, soccer betting helped push Nevada's "Other" sports category to an all-time record. The category generated $31.3 million in revenue, representing a 209% increase from July 2025.

Several World Cup knockout-round upsets contributed to the unusually strong results. The tournament created significant betting interest across Nevada's online sportsbooks.

The World Cup also affected betting results across the wider US sports betting market. However, Nevada followed a different pattern from several other major states.

Other reports indicate that Nevada's hold fell from 8.72% in June to 7.84% in July. The state was the only July-reporting market in its comparison where the hold declined.

Nevada's handle also fell 16.3% from June. That decline reflected the end of the World Cup and the traditional summer slowdown.

Basketball Losses Keep Overall Hold Lower

Despite the record online hold, Nevada sportsbooks faced a major setback in basketball. Operators lost nearly $11 million on basketball wagers during July.

That marked the sportsbooks' worst basketball month since 2018. The losses placed significant pressure on Nevada's overall sports betting results.

Basketball's poor performance helps explain why the state's total hold remained at 7.84%. Online sportsbooks still posted a record 10.6% hold, but their results varied significantly across sports.

The contrast demonstrates how individual sports can heavily influence Nevada's monthly revenue. Strong soccer results could not completely offset the substantial losses from basketball.

Revenue Trails Handle Growth

Nevada's July results show an important distinction between betting volume and sportsbook revenue.

The state's handle increased significantly from last year. Yet revenue barely changed because sportsbooks posted a lower overall hold.

Nevada recorded a 7.84% combined hold in July. That compared with approximately 9% during July 2025.

This difference limited the financial benefit of higher wagering activity. Bettors placed more money with sportsbooks, but operators retained a smaller percentage of those wagers.

The state's results also demonstrate the unusual characteristics of Nevada gambling. Nevada has historically maintained a stronger retail betting culture than many newer US markets.

Its sports betting market also relies heavily on straight wagers. That structure can produce different revenue swings than markets with heavier parlay activity.

Clark County Remains the Market Leader

Clark County continued to account for most of Nevada's sports betting revenue in July. The county includes Las Vegas and remains the state's primary gambling destination.

Clark County sportsbooks generated approximately $34.3 million in sports betting revenue during the month. However, revenue declined 2.4% from July 2025.

Washoe County produced a stronger year-over-year performance. The Reno area generated approximately $2.5 million in revenue while recording an 11.9% hold.

Washoe County's betting volume also increased 36.7% year over year. That growth helped offset weaker revenue trends in some other parts of Nevada.

Nevada Online Sportsbooks Enter Football Season

July's results provide a useful snapshot before the US football calendar takes center stage. The NFL and college football seasons should create new opportunities for sportsbooks.

The strong online performance also reinforces mobile betting's growing role in Nevada. Online operators generated nearly all of the state's sports betting revenue during July.

For US online sportsbooks, Nevada remains a distinctive market because of its established retail infrastructure. Yet July's figures show that mobile wagering continues to gain importance.

The combination of higher annual handle and record online hold could give operators momentum heading into football season. Still, July demonstrated that higher wagering volume does not always produce proportional revenue growth.

As Nevada enters the busier sports calendar, operators will look to maintain strong mobile engagement. They will also aim to improve margins while competing for a larger share of the state's betting activity.
