We have made it to the final week of the regular season if you can believe it. Every MLB team is in action on this Tuesday night. Plenty of good pitching matchups and a lot of rested bullpens because so many teams had the day off yesterday. We could see a lot of low scoring games tonight. Let's dive into my MLB best bets for Tuesday, September 22nd.
MLB Best Bets for Tuesday, September 22nd
Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies
Two of the best pitching staffs in baseball will square off over the next 3 days in a potential NLDS Postseason matchup. The Brewers tonight will face Zach Wheeler, who they'll face in Game 1 or Game 2 if these teams match up in the playoffs.
Both of the teams are tops in Major League Baseball in strikeouts for pitching staffs. From the starters down to the relievers both of these teams have pitchers with elite swing-and-miss stuff. Wheeler is at the top of the rotation for the Phillies along with Christopher Sanchez. He has had another really strong season for the Phillies with a 13-5 record and a 2.99 ERA. He has been terrific here in September. 3 starts for him, pitching 20 innings and he has only given up 2 runs. I expect another good start from Wheeler tonight against the Brewers.
On the other side of the bump tonight is Dustin May. He has been much better at home this year than on the road which is worrisome. He has a 3.87 ERA at home. That jumps to 5.76 when he's on the road. Thankfully he will get some help behind him tonight. Jacob Misiorowski only pitched 3 innings the other night for the Brewers and used 6 different relievers behind him. They proceeded to shutout the Orioles. I could see a similar game plan tonight from Pat Murphy and the Brewers behind Dustin May.
Don't see much offense being scored tonight in the city of brotherly love. I'll trust two of the best pitching staffs in baseball and take the under 7.

Padres vs Dodgers
Yoshinobu Yamamoto is looking for another good start vs the Padres
Probably the best rivalry in baseball currently going adds another iteration tonight in LA. We got a terrific pitching matchup to boot as well between Michael King and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Both guys are having great seasons and both have been very good against the other team this season.
Let's start with Michael King. The Padres right hander has a 12-9 record with a 3.03 ERA on the season. Against the Dodgers this season he has 3 starts, 17.1 innings pitched with 10 hits and 6 earned runs. The Padres have a terrific bullpen and they got the day off yesterday. Should have just about everyone available if need be for this game tonight.
Then we have Yoshinobu Yamamoto who has been awesome for the Dodgers this year as well. He is 14-8 on the season with a 2.51 ERA. He has been terrific against San Diego. 20 innings pitched and just 3 runs given up.
Was surprised to see the total this high considering how good the pitching matchup is and the fact that Dodgers Stadium is a good pitcher's park. I'm still taking the under though because of the two great starting pitchers and the fact so many relievers will be aavailable for both teams in this game.
