After a rough start and a stint on the injured list, Hyun-Jin Ryu has had a positive return to the rotation for the Toronto Blue Jays. Tonight, the former All-Star will aim for his second win in a row as the Blue Jays visit Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels.

Toronto has won only two of seven series openers on the road thus far this season, but they make the trip to Anaheim with things starting to trend up. The Blue Jays are 6-3 in their last nine games and currently occupy the third AL wild-card spot, one game ahead of the Chicago White Sox.

While both of those teams were expected to be in better positions than they are in at the moment, the Angels are in a better position than they were expected to be in. Ohtani, last year's AL MVP and the favorite to claim this year's award, isn't the only reason why, but he is certainly a big part of why.

Tonight, he gets the start on the mound as the Angels look to pick up their 28th win of the season.

Can Ryu Continue His Resurgence Against the Angels?

In his first two starts of the season, Ryu allowed 11 runs and 11 hits and only 7.1 innings. He then went on the injured list with forearm inflammation, making his return to action twelve days ago against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The stint on the injured list clearly did him some good, as he has allowed only one run, ten hits, and one walk in 10.2 innings across two starts against the Rays and Reds.

The Blue Jays are only 8-14 after a win and 3-7 as a road underdog this season, but with the former All-Star hurler on the way back up after his early season struggles and stint on the injured list, Toronto is great value tonight, even against Ohtani.
