The Minnesota hitters get an A Plus matchup today as they face Los Angeles Right hander Ryan Johnson. The 2nd year hurler has struggled this season. In 8 outings he sports a 6.99 ERA/1.55 WHIP and a batting average against of .288. On the road those numbers inflate to an 8.10 ERA/1.80 WHIP and a batting average against of .328. The Twins have plated the 10th most runs at home and against right handed pitching and they average 4.8 runs per nine. They are 16th in batting average (.249, OPS (.735) and wRC+ (103) at Target Field. These numbers are not great but not terrible either.
Behind Johnson is a bullpen that has an ERA of 4.61, which is 7th worst in Major League Baseball. I don't expect them to have a repeat performance of last night, when they shut down the Minnesota hitters in the final 3+ innings. Even without their slugger Byron Buxton, the Twinkies have enough solid hitters to hit this mark today. I think they bounce back and put up some crooked numbers this afternoon.
