There's plenty of action to be had on the diamond this afternoon, and I've got a few plays that I'm looking forward to sweating out.

Below, you can find my MLB best bets for Saturday, May 16.

MLB Bets for Saturday, May 16

Casey Mize gets the start tonight in Atlanta. He's pitched well so far this year, but how will he do facing the Braves' red hot offense? Tigers Braves MLB Picks

Toronto Blue Jays vs Detroit Tigers

The Tigers snapped their three-game losing streak after getting swept by the Mets and opened this series with a 3-2 win in Game 1.

Today, Casey Mize takes the bump for Detroit, and he's exactly the type of arm they should want in this spot. Mize owns a 2.90 ERA, 2.84 FIP and a HR/FB rate below 6%.

The Blue Jays have struggled against right-handers over the past month, ranking 27th in ISO (.116) and 22nd in wRC+ (94).

Meanwhile, the Tigers rank 11th in wRC+ (106) and 14th in ISO (.154) against righties during that stretch, and they'll be facing a bullpen game from Toronto today.

We're getting Detroit at a very reasonable price considering they have the more reliable arm and lineup at the moment.

Bet: Tigers Moneyline (-125)

Kansas City Royals vs St. Louis Cardinals

We'll head to Busch Stadium, where the Cardinals and Royals square off in Game 2 of their three-game series.

St. Louis took Game 1 in extras, pulling out a 5-4 win in 11 innings.

Today, the Cardinals will send right-hander Kyle Leahy to the mound. Sportsbooks are offering a generous number on his strikeouts prop, which is sitting at just 3.5 with -135 odds attached.

Leahy has cleared this mark in each of his past three starts, recording five, five and seven strikeouts, respectively. Overall, he's gone over this number in five of his eight starts this season.

Over the past month, Kansas City owns a 21.8% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching, and that number has climbed to 23% since the start of May.

Let's take advantage of this low strikeout prop on Leahy.

Bet: Kyle Leahy 3.5 Strikeouts (-135)

Chicago Cubs vs Chicago White Sox

The Northsiders took Game 1 of the Crosstown Classic on Friday night, cruising to a 10-5 win.

There's no question the Cubs are the better team overall, but that may not be the case today with Jameson Taillon taking the bump.

The veteran right-hander owns an okay 3.94 ERA, but the underlying numbers are far more worrisome, including a 5.66 FIP, 34% ground-ball rate, 17% HR/FB ratio and 13% barrel rate. It feels like only a matter of time before Taillon gets pummeled, and on a warm day in the Windy City against a White Sox offense that's been crushing right-handed pitching lately, this could be the spot where it happens.

Over the past month against righties, the White Sox rank first in wOBA (.350), second in ISO (.193), and third in both wRC+ (121) and OPS (.792).

Despite all of that, sportsbooks are still hanging the White Sox team total at only 3.5. Yes, the juice is steep at -140, but this still looks like one of the better plays on today's board.

Bet: White Sox Team Total Over 3.5 Runs (-140)
