Dante Moore is back to lead the Oregon Ducks in this upcoming NCAA Football season - National Championship Odds

As the World Cup finishes up this week, it's time for me to turn my attention to the fall sports that are quickly approaching. Yes, that means the end of the MLS season, as well as the start of the English Premier League and UCL, however, football is back, specifically on college campuses. I am a huge NCAA Football fan, and plan on attacking the futures board this season after success last year. Let's start by looking at the biggest future of them all, the odds to win the 2026-27 NCAA Football National Championship.

Past 10 National Championship Winners

  • 2025: Indiana Hoosiers
  • 2024: Ohio State Buckeyes
  • 2023: Michigan Wolverines
  • 2022: Georgia Bulldogs
  • 2021: Georgia Bulldogs
  • 202: Alabama Crimson Tide
  • 2019: LSU Tigers
  • 2018: Clemson Tigers
  • 2017: Alabama Crimson Tide
  • 2016: Clemson Tigers

Alabama went back and forth with Clemson from 2015-2018, and then the SEC had a strangle hold on the National Title, winning four straight years. However, since then, the Big Ten has flexed it's muscle and won three in a row, ironically, with three different schools. But nobody has been repeat champions since Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs did so in 2021 and 2022.

Will we see Curt Cignetti and the Indiana Hoosiers compete for back to back titles?

Odds to Win 2026-27 NCAA Football National Championship

  • Notre Dame Fighting Irish: +700
  • Texas Longhorns: +775
  • Oregon Ducks: +800
  • Georgia Bulldogs: +900
  • Indiana Hoosiers: +900
  • Miami Hurricanes: +1100
  • Oklahoma Sooners: +2000
  • LSU Tigers: +2200
  • Texas A&M Aggies: +2200

  • Texas Tech Red Raiders: +2500

Ohio State Buckeyes

Unfortunately, there are 13 teams listed here, and none are G5 schools. Therefore, this list could contain 11 of the 13 College Football Playoff teams, but two of these would be left out of a 12 team playoff. With Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith returning for Ohio State, along with their rock solid defense, it's tough to view any other team as the betting favorite. But I wouldn't count out Notre Dame.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

The Irish were narrowly left out of last year's playoff, thanks to a Week 1 loss to Miami. The Hurricanes went on to lose in the National Championship to Indiana at home. CJ Carr is another year older and more mature, and I think he could be primed and ready to lead the Irish offense to the promised land, especially with Marcus Freeman leading the charge.

Arch Manning had a lackluster first year as a starter. Will he turn it around in the SEC this fall? National Championship Odds

Texas Longhorns

Obviously, Arch Manning and Texas are towards the top of the betting board, but does he have the gumption to get them over the hump after a disappointing first year as a starter? He finds himself as a Heisman favorite early on, but I worry about the SEC schedule they'll face, which could keep them out of the CFP for a second straight season.

Oregon Ducks

The last of the four favorites on this betting board are the Oregon Ducks. Dan Lanning returns Dante Moore as his QB, and even has Dylan Raiola waiting his turn to lead this prestigious program. Oregon only lost twice last year, both coming at the hands of the eventual National Champions, once during the regular season at Autzen Stadium, the other in the CFP Semifinals by 34 points. Oregon suffered some severe losses at key positions late in the year, which certainly hurt them. Will they be able to turn things around and compete in another stacked year in the Big Ten?

As of this moment, I do not have any futures on the National Championship. However, once I dive into conference previews next week, I should have more conviction in picking this year's winner. Stay tuned.
