Oh baby, do we have a great one tonight. The league leading Colorado Avalanche will take on the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center. These two rivals haven't met since the very beginning of the season where the Stars won 5-4 in a shootout.
Colorado is 41-10-9 this season and are the best team in the league. They come into this game on a three-game winning streak after another win Tuesday vs. the Ducks. The Avs are 6-4-0 in their last ten games and 19-6-5 on the road.
This team is loaded with talent and had an insane start to the season. They have since come back to Earth but still hold a commanding lead in the standings. Colorado leads the league in most wins and least number of losses.
We all know how sick they are on both sides on the puck. They lead the league in goals scored and shots on goal per game. One thing they struggle with on offense is the power play. Surprisingly, they have the worst conversion rate in the league.
In goal, we are expected to see Mackenzie Blackwood. He is 17-6-1 this season with a 2.08 GAA and a .916 save percentage. Blackwood leads the league with the best GAA.

Dallas will try to remind Colorado that they're still on their tail

The Stars are 38-14-9 this year and second in the Central Division. They come into this game on fire, currently riding ten-game winning streak. Dallas is perfect in their last ten games and 18-7-3 at home this season.
Dallas is reminding the league to not sleep on them. This winning streak has helped them close the gap between them and the Avalanche to only six points. The Stars are the second-best team in the league and will look to make a playoff run.
Speaking of a playoff run, the Stars just acquired forward Michael Bunting today from the Nashville Predators for some draft picks. He adds great third line depth to this team which you need to make a deep run.
Their defense can hang with the Avs defense. They rank in the top ten for goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game. Dallas will need to play smart hockey because Colorado will capitalize.

This should be such an electric game. Both teams want this win and are definitely going to give it their all being all separated by six points in the standings. We are also getting top notch goaltending which is going to take this game under.
Both teams know each other well being division rivals, so you know they'll be all over each other. I think we see a more hard-fought game than high scoring. Both defenses are top in the league as well.
I like for Oettinger to get over his saves line that should be around 28 saves. It could fall at 30, which I'd still take. The Avalanche average 34 shots per game and are definitely going to hit that number. They had 39 vs. him last time they played.
