Jonas Kronwitter Claims 2026 PGT PLO Series Championship

Jonas Kronwitter captured the 2026 PGT PLO Series championship after a strong run across eight events. The Austrian PLO specialist finished with 598 PGT points and $576,088 in tournament earnings.

His performance also earned him a $10,000 PGT Passport for future PokerGO Tour events. The championship marked a major breakthrough for Kronwitter, who entered the series without a PGT-qualified score.

Kronwitter Makes an Early Push

Kronwitter immediately established himself as a contender in the opening event. He finished runner-up in the $5,300 PLO tournament after a field of 91 entries.

The result earned him $79,625 and provided a strong foundation for his championship campaign. He then added ninth-place finishes in Events #2 and #4.

Those results kept Kronwitter near the top of the standings as the series moved forward. He eventually converted his consistency into a victory in Event #5.

The $10,500 PLO tournament attracted 63 entries and created a $630,000 prize pool. Kronwitter defeated Richard Gryko heads-up to claim $201,600 and 202 PGT points.

Another Win Strengthens His Position

Kronwitter returned to the winner's circle in Event #7. The tournament drew 65 entries and featured another competitive PLO field.

He defeated Joni Jouhkimainen heads-up after the two players reached a deal. Kronwitter collected $267,563 and 234 PGT points.

That result put him in a commanding position heading into the final event. It also left Sam Soverel as the only realistic challenger for the series championship.

Soverel had already won Events #1 and #6, giving him an opportunity to close the points gap. However, he needed a strong result in the $26,000 PLO Championship to overtake Kronwitter.

Soverel ultimately failed to cash in the final event. Kronwitter therefore secured the series title before the championship tournament could alter the standings.

Kronwitter Finishes 222 Points Clear

Jonas Kronwitter finished with 598 PGT points, while Soverel placed second with 376. The 222-point difference gave Kronwitter a comfortable margin over his closest challenger.

Cesar Garcia finished third with 304 points. Lautaro Guerra followed with 293, while Robert Cowen rounded out the top five with 279.

Rank Player PGT Points
1 Jonas Kronwitter 598
2 Sam Soverel 376
3 Cesar Garcia 304
4 Lautaro Guerra 293
5 Robert Cowen 279

The standings reflect Kronwitter's ability to remain competitive throughout the festival. He reached heads-up play three times, providing crucial points during the championship race.

Garcia Wins the Final Championship Event

Cesar Garcia ended the series with a victory in the $26,000 PLO Championship. The event attracted 48 entries and awarded Garcia $420,000.

Garcia's victory provided a strong finish to the festival, but it did not affect Kronwitter's position at the top. Soverel's absence from the payouts had already eliminated his opportunity to catch the leader.

Six players ultimately captured the eight event titles. Kronwitter and Soverel won twice, while Garcia, James Chen, Robert Chorlian, and Roussos Koliakoudakis each claimed one title.

A Major PGT Milestone

The championship represents an important step in Kronwitter's PokerGO Tour career. His results during the series moved him into the PGT standings while pushing his live tournament earnings beyond $4.5 million.

His run also demonstrated the value of sustained performance in a multi-event PLO festival. Rather than relying on one large result, Kronwitter accumulated points across several tournaments before securing the lead.

For players following the wider tournament landscape through US online poker sites, the result provides another notable PLO storyline. Kronwitter's success, however, came through live competition against an accomplished field.

With the series title secured, Kronwitter leaves the festival with both a major PGT achievement and a $10,000 Passport for future events.
