Soccer Picks for the Weekend

Tottenham vs. Newcastle

This match just screams goals to me.

Both managers are very attack-minded, and I expect this to turn into an entertaining back and forth matchup.

Tottenham were bullied in their season opener against Brentford.

They conceded nearly 4.0 expected goals and simply did not look ready for the season to begin.

The good news is that Spurs should get some key pieces back.

I'm expecting both Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro to return today. That would be a massive boost against a Newcastle team with plenty of pace.

Newcastle were unfortunate not to get a result against Liverpool in their opener.

I thought they were the better side for long stretches and looked dangerous every time they broke in transition.

That's exactly where I think they can hurt Tottenham.

Spurs will want to control possession, and Newcastle will gladly let them have the ball.

The visitors are much more comfortable absorbing pressure and attacking quickly the other way.

With questions in Tottenham's midfield and back line, Newcastle should create plenty of quality chances.

I also expect Spurs to be much better going forward at home.

Both teams should have opportunities, and I like this match to open up quickly once the first goal arrives.

Play: Tottenham vs. Newcastle Over 2.75 Goals (-125)

Dortmund vs. Hamburger

Guirassy and Dortmund kick off their 2026-27 season at home against Hamburger.

Our first official Bundesliga play of the season is here!

We're heading to Dortmund, where I really like the work this club did over the summer.

Adding players like Joey Veerman from PSV and Konstantinos Karetsas from Genk gives Dortmund even more control and creativity.

I expect this team to dominate possession in a lot of matches this season.

They also gave us a solid first look last week in the Super Cup against Bayern.

Dortmund went toe to toe with one of Europe's best teams for most of the match.

They eventually lost 2-1, but I was encouraged by what I saw.

Now they get a much softer matchup in their Bundesliga opener.

Hamburger finished in the bottom half of the table last season and didn't do enough this summer to really improve the squad.

There's a legitimate chance Dortmund clear this total by themselves.

The visitors conceded nearly two goals per road match last season. They also haven't looked particularly sharp during preseason.

This matchup produced five goals last season, and I wouldn't be surprised to see something similar.

With the Yellow Wall behind them, I expect Dortmund to come out flying.

Play: Dortmund vs. Hamburger Over 3 Goals (-130)

Nashville SC vs. FC Cincinnati

Cristian Espinoza and Nashville look to keep momentum going at home tonight.

It wouldn't be a Saturday night without a little MLS action.

Nashville haven't exactly been the kindest team to us this season. They've been inconsistent and difficult to trust from a betting perspective.

Still, I really like this matchup.

We're going right back to targeting Cincinnati's back line.

They have conceded at least one goal in 13 of their last 14 matches.

On the road, Cincinnati are allowing just over 2.5 goals per 90 minutes.

That's a major concern against a Nashville attack that can be dangerous when fully healthy.

I'm hoping we see Hany Mukhtar, Sam Surridge, and Cristian Espinoza all start tonight.

If that happens, Nashville should be able to create plenty of problems.

That trio has enough quality to really frustrate this Cincinnati defense and generate multiple goals.

Of course, as long as Evander is on the pitch, you can never count Cincinnati out.

He's simply a special player.

Evander can create something out of nothing and completely change a match with one moment.

Nashville have also looked vulnerable defensively in recent games.

If the hosts score early and Cincinnati are forced to push forward, this match could open up fast.

That's exactly the type of game script I want when backing this total.

Play: Nashville SC vs. FC Cincinnati Over 3 Goals (-125)
