Doué is in for a huge season for Paris Saint-Germain
Best Bet: PSG to Lift Trophy/Under 3.5 (+100) Lucky Rebel Sportsbook
In last year's UEFA Super Cup, PSG fell down 2-0 to Tottenham just 48 minutes into the match. Eventually they found one goal in the 85′ and an equalizer in the 90'+4′ to force extra time. After a scoreless half hour longer, PSG was victorious in a PK shootout. The French side is listed at -130 to finish off Aston Villa in regulation, while they are -265 to be the Cup Winner, regardless of how it's done. That's a little telling for me.
PSG still has their entire starting roster from last year's Champions League Final, and the same 10 outfield players as two years ago as well. They are still locked and loaded, and I would expect them to bring some extra fire since last year they might not have taken it so seriously in the first hour.
Aston Villa lost Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers this transfer window, but added Johan Manzambi and Alejandro Garnacho to fill in. Ollie Watkins will have to take over until Manzambi is up to speed in the EPL. While they might put up a fight, I think PSG can win a low scoring game, considering Aston Villa had one of the best back lines in England last year.
Now, you could take PSG in regulation with the under 4.5 for even money as well, or opt down to in reg with the 3.5 for +140. Since it is just an exhibition contest, I'll take the extra cushion. We've seen five of the last six Super Cups stay under three goals in regulation, this one should as well.
Prediction: PSG Wins 2-0 (+750) or 1-1 Draw (+600)
