NCAA Football Expert Insights: Missouri State Bears vs. Delaware Blue Hens
Isaiah Myers has gone for 130+ receiving yards in three of his five games this year
Last Tuesday, we picked the Delaware Blue Hens as our play for Day 13 of 61 straight betting on football. They lost a close one to a bad MTSU team, making it three straight losses for the team from The First State. Now they are back at home facing a team that is much weaker than them, in my opinion.
Missouri State snapped their own three game losing streak with a win over Kennesaw State last Wednesday. They head back on the road where they are 0-3 on the year, getting outscored by an average of 39.3 to 12.3 in those contests. Not great, not encouraging. Seems like the perfect bounce back spot for the Blue Hens.
Matchup Information – Missouri State vs. Delaware – October 20
Looking at the advanced analytics, both of these offenses and defenses suck. Missouri State is bottom 20 in points scored and allowed per game, and they aren't any better on third down. The Bears have a 31.25% success rate on third down offensively (ranking bottom 25), while they allow a 50% conversion rate to their opponents (ranking bottom 10). They are outside the top 100 (inside the bottom 40) in yards per pass and YPP allowed, and yards per carry, and YPC allowed.
This is a bad football team. End of sentence.
Delaware isn't much better, but the spot is encouraging. After losing three straight, two to rock solid opponents, this is the perfect spot for the Blue Hens to bounce back at home. Delaware isn't going to wow you with any advanced analytics either, but defensively, they are MUCH better. The Blue Hens defensive unit is top 60 in yards per rush allowed. While their secondary isn't all that great, I am much more worried about the Bears' ground attack.
Neither should be able to do much on the ground, but I certainly trust the Blue Hens passing attack and defense to step up and win this game for them at home.
